Bloke 2 seats to the left of me and one row behind got hit with a bottle. I had to put a 5 year old on my knee in front of me to try and shield him. They won't have been specifically aiming at kids (or anyone for that matter) and they won't have aimed for the bloke they hit... But they still hit him. Basically they just didn't give a fuck who they hit. Same thought process as the police.

I was at Coventry when they did exactly the same with rocks.

Why on earth would you stay in your seat and put your 5 year old at risk????

Not long had a call from the Deputy Safety Officer - was very apologetic and explained how they want to improve practices going forward.

Impressed he took the time to call personally in response to my email.

I don't think they were targeting women and kids in the ground (not sure what they were like out of the ground mind), but they obviously knew there would be bairns in the section below and didn't give a fuck so it's pretty much the same thing. I mention kids when talking about it because seeing the scared faces of some of the bairns around me is what really pissed me off. I've experienced worse than that it a ground, and I knew I could easily go somewhere else in the ground if I wanted to and I'd obviously be back the next game but knowing some of these kids were at risk, and some might not want to come back, pissed me right off.

Outside the ground mate, I saw two separate groups have ago at families (one with very young children). In 30 years of attending football matches, I have never come across a more cowardly away support.

Could be right marra. Just seems that, from looking on their forum, that they are saying it was a minority, but condemning them. Dunno, I wasn't beneath it all but from other people it sounded more like a main group at the front of the stand who were causing the problems.

I was beneath them mate and it was much more then a minority - and tbf the CCTV will back that up. A lot of the bottles were also coming from towards the back of the stand.

What I will say is; a good away support can police itself. I’ve seen us misbehave before and lads have been quick to confront the wrong’uns. Coventry were just shit.

Makes the fact a few got turned over after the game rather sweet.

Some people with kids did leave. Firstly that shouldn't have to happen

I asked my 7 yr old daughter if she wanted to go and if she was scared. She said she didn't want to leave (we sit with family and friends) so I sat over her. Perhaps in hindsight it was too risky. We were fortunate we weren't affected in the end.
But perhaps there was the assumption that the police would take measures to protect people.....which is tbh the crux of this thread - they didn't!

Why the fuck should they leave when they were doing nothing wrong?

Must admit, I nearly took my 5 year old to the game, luckily I found someone to watch him instead. If he'd been there I wouldn't have sat there when there's a chance a bottle could be stotted off his head. Wouldn't have left the ground like but would have moved to a different seat with no risk

Part of me was wanting to go down the the entrance and stand watching it, to which point we would have been told to move on. I envisaged saying we'd left our seats cos it wasnt safe. But I thought against it as the way our stewards were going on, we'd have been the ones who got the shit and threatened with being thrown out

Thought there might of been a statement put out from the club for tonight's match ,ensuring the Safety of spectators in the North Stand. Still time like
