I’ve defended the new owners to the hilt, but today was a total failure by the club. The safety officer, and the staff he is responsible for, were not up to the standard people expect. When bottles and coins are raining down, and children are being hit/take away upset, they needed to take action and they did fuck all.

I’m utterly disgusted with the club tonight.

They need to make some sort of statement, not just the usual private courtesy letters.

Aye, was a grim day for the club on and off the pitch.

from a neutrals point of view do you think talk like “ it’s their cup final “ just stokes up a bad atmosphere ? When I hear that from any fans I just think total arrogance . Don’t get me wrong but no need for what Coventry fans have done in the stands , but not a lot of respect shown to their club when this match was regarded as a cup final by many on this forum .

Finding excuses for it then. Let’s all go through bags of shit around old Trafford this idiot thinks it’s justified. Given your fans can’t even win gracefully don’t suppose I should expect anything other than brainless justification.

The day I show Coventry respect is the day I pack it in

Coventry fans were scum, but our club should take some responsibility for making it worse. It's been known for a while that trouble was going to happen, yet people could just walk up and pay on the door cutting out any chance of the police or club knowing who they were. Is it worth all this shit for just a few Bob more..

They take it too far like, every penny trying to be made, cuts too stewards and staff at the ground, they running a massive club not Eastleigh, not all about money safety of supporter is paramount

Everyone who experienced it today needs to complain the club, every single fan, so this doesn't happen again.

Who is best person to complain to at the club?
All three of the main ones And tell them should we both be in the same division next season stand up and be counted by totally banning them all at the stadium. Not that anything would be done but ask if cctv was in operation to trawl through and identify the f***ing shit scum cowardly bastards who threw bottles etc.

Safety of the Sunderland fans was not a priority for police or stewards today. They couldn’t have been less interested it felt like, especially those police stood down North West corner, only moved on 70 mins. I saw a fair few with kids etc leave the stand to protect them from all the stuff being chucked.

Also heard a steward tell a fan to fuck off for daring to complain at half time...

Club let the fans down today, there was neither the resource or plan to deal with it. Be interested to see what the consequences are for safety officers at the club. If there is no consequence then you can assume the club understand and are fully aware of the risk of this and have chosen to put themselves in a position where they cannot respond.

Not one to promote violence at footy matches but fuck I hope you're on the money with this DM marra.

Same feelings as I have, not in to or think violence at football is warranted. However if those spineless twats thought it clever to hoy stuff down at kids I'd imagine they might not be so brave outside of the ground.

Shame the coach entrances weren't bigger as there looked like a canny ol' scramble to get on. Presume free drink or summat was being dished out marra.

When the away fans were moved up there this was always my main concern. We were promised some sort of screening which never happened by the previous regime. Needs to be looked at as an option again clearly. Hope no one was hurt too badly today.

Not about the defending (although I acknowledge there is a strong case for it) but about the vile pieces of scum throwing missiles during the game & how it was allowed to continue. I appreciate there is another thread(s) on this subject but I havent read every post so I'm not sure if it has been mentioned there.

I was in the north east corner with my Mrs & kids, luckily nothing landed on us but we saw a number of objects thrown throughout the game & it didnt make pleasant viewing. We almost went in the north stand today as well. The police & stewards were useless. Do we complain to the club, the football league, independent police complaints commission or someone else? I'm not sure what the appropriate channels are but this kind of thing cant be allowed to happen again. Someone could get seriously hurt, I just hope nobody did today

The new owners on the whole been good for the club, However today the club has let itself down, whoever is managing crowd safety at the SOL should be sacked after that today. I sit in the east stand and could see the bottles and cans and God knows what else coming over the top yet I didn't see one of their fans pulled out..to have cash turnstiles on today was stupid and dangerous..
