There’s doctoring and then there’s doctoring though chopper. Somerset’s groundsman is more Josef Mengele than Sir Alexander Fleming ;).

Enjoyed reading that, a decent take on every county and I have to say I think it’s quite a fair assessment to say Lancashire, Sussex, Worcestershire and Middlesex will finish above us. Those four are the ones with the most recent experience of Division One and it must be said, are in a much better place to push for promotion this year. With three going up, 5th would represent some sort of promotion battle for us and I’d take that in fairness.

It’s a pretty sad indictment of the rest mind, it comes as no surprise that the others are the unfashionable counties and of course none have Test Match grounds - I don’t think that’s at all a coincidence and perhaps I could even be so bold as to suggest some people in high ranking positions at the administrative body past or present will be sadistically pleased with that.

Regarding Wisden’s write-up, I felt they of all people, would have done a much more thorough job of it. Looks like something the intern knocked together while the proper writer was on a fag break.

The Beeb have done a decent job with their preview - plenty of depth, also interesting to note there is to be no day-night games this season. Not surprise that experiment didn’t last long.

An unusually sensible decision. At this rate, we may have championship cricket on a weekend next year so people can actually have the option to watch it.

Thank God for that.Last seasons game against Warwicks was an utter farce played in the last week of June, in glorious weather, in front of a 'crowd' of 95 for the last hour.
 
As much as it pains me to say this, I think it's relegation for Kent this season.

After finally getting promoted last season, not having Matt Henry in the bowling attack will be a huge loss this season.

And relying on a 43yr old Darren Stevens to sometimes open the bowling attack......I can see only struggle.

Hope come September I'm proved wrong, but despite all this I'm looking forward to days in the sun this summer watching the mighty Kent CCC at the St Lawrence Ground.

Thought you might’ve brought a couple more players in, especially when you’ve lost last season’s top wicket taker. I think Stevens himself is expecting a tougher campaign going off his comments on the subject of falling Championship totals, a lot of the grounds he’ll be playing at won’t offer the same assistance as he got in Division Two.

Still with the championship of both divisions and the T20 Cup there's still lots to to play for.

I did say earlier in this thread before the season that Somerset have a good blend of youth and experience and are getting better each year, however that was in regards to the championship so guess that can’t count!

Although they are top in that
