Ashwin mankands Buttler

I don’t see why a batsman should need to be warned, they know the rules.

Batsman never walk when they nick it and that seems to be accepted.

As I said this wasn’t a blatant stealing of yards but it Waac borderline in terms of delivery stride so I think ashwin entitled to ask the question.

If you ask yourself how many times that has happened while you have been playing cricket you will no the answer.

However imo it wasn’t borderline as Buttler did not move forward until he thought Ashwin had released the ball

No of course I can’t read minds but imo Buttler was not trying to steal yards on this occasion in the slightest!

Very rare but always something that I’ve never understood as to why.

As I said it’s no good batsman screaming foul play to this sort of think then middling it and not walking. Spirit of game argument doesn’t quite wash after that.

This is the key to all though. As I said before every batsman would have been out in that game or any one day game. He couldn't have even warned Buttler because at the time where he was about to bowl he was still in his crease.

TBF I’m talking more generally in terms of mankad rather than this particular instance as I don’t think it was blatant from Butler.

You're comparing apples and oranges here though. Your example of a batsman not walking is better compared to a bowler appealing for an lbw that he knows is probably not out or a catch that probably bounced first. This mankad imo is better compared to a bowler throwing the ball full force at the stumps while the batsman is in his ground and the batsman being either in the air or out of his crease because he was taking avoiding action while the ball hits the stumps, then the captain upholding an appeal.

I bet Collingwood regrets his incident while he was England captain and I think Ashwin will regret this in time.

It was pre-empted by Ashwin, he had no intention of bowling that delivery, he stopped, and waited for Buttler to leave his crease before whipping the bails off. Cheating sod

Exactly this. Cheating, nothing other. No intention to bowl and dead ball should be called when he didn’t deliver. Should be banned for a game for such behaviour, but sadly this is the kind of thing the Indians keep bringing into the game. Excessive celebrations, frivolous appealing, not walking being others. Driving the game towards a football mentality instead of the great game that it is

Like I say my argument regarding mankad isn’t really relating to this incident as I don’t think butler was deliberately trying to gain an advantage.

In general though I don’t see why it shouldn’t happen more often as batsman are forever trying to steal yards and only way to stop it is to do this.

I think in general batsman can't complain too much, but I do think why not just warn them first, can't do any harm, cricket is not that cut throat that this can't be expected

Buttler against Sri Lanka got warned, then still did, he was out IMO.

I know you are not talking about this incident, but reason this is so bad it that I really think he just wanted to get him out as they were going to lose to the game, no other reason.

Ashwin has brushed it off and claims he stands by it, but I think he will regret it in time just for the fact that a lot of people will just associate this with him a lot of the time before anything else

That's fair enough.

What I don't want to see though is bowlers stopping in their action to try and get set batsmen out. Imo a bowler in limited overs cricket should be removed from the attack and not allowed to bowl any more overs in that innings if in the umpires opinion he's trying to manufacture a wicket that way.

Imo Ashwin should have held his hands up after and admitted he made a mistake in the heat of the moment and that it won't happen again. Instead, he's lied and made himself look like a bigger arse than he already did. As much as he can get on peoples nerves I bet Kohli wouldn't of upheld that if he was captain. Him and Dhoni seem to at least have some respect for the game.

He’s wrong like sorry

It was a dead ball

This is totally different to a usual mankad

Buttler against Sri Lanka was 100% out. He warned him and he still did it, he deserved it in my opinion

This one he would have been in if Ashwin Bowled the ball

Ashwin can do what he likes, but 99% of cricketers wouldn’t do that. No cricketer has backed him up

But he’s allowed to do that, it was an umpire error

Loads of Indians fans and players have mind. Pretty shocking tbh. It's getting like a cult out there now.

I personally have no problem with it.

Let’s be honest if Butler nicked one he wouldn’t walk if umpire didn’t give him yet that seems accepted.

This was probably borderline in terms of if was in delivery stride or not but batsman steal yards all the time.

If it’s difference between winning and losing then Ashwin is in his rights to ask the question imo.

What a daft c word you are.

I'm glad someone else sees it too.

Not many players though, only mainly people linked to the BCI

Its mad over there, I am not sure who the commentator was at the time with McCullin and Hayden but he was scared shitless and just backed up Ashwin 100%, you almost can't blame him, if he criticised him he would probs lose his job IMO or be looked on poorly

Integrity mate. Got to have some. Seems like they all love the dollar a bit too much to let integrity and morals get in the way.

Ashwin and what he done is a indicative of this mentality. I would love to punch his ugly face

 bit harsh!

He is fairly annoying

India are a love to hate thing for me these days, we need them for the game, especially the fact they are taking test cricket so seriously.

Agree about hating them but we don't need them per say. As in they're not special. In fact they are doing the opposite of what cricket should be about. Spreading the good word round the world and getting as many people and countries playing as possible. But if it was up to them they'd have a three way with us and Australia whilst f***ing the rest off. They are interested in just money. Not the progression of the game.

Ashwin being allowed to carry on like normal should tell you that.

P.s. I'm biased mate. I absolutely hate the Bcciand everything it stands for. The icc are hypocrites and are shit scared to pull them up.afraid to not rock the apple cart.

Agreed 100%. Even beyond this, they are by far the worst for bringing a football mentality into cricket. Arguing with umpires, frivolous appealing, not walking for anything, claiming non-catches, excessive sledging, you name it. They’ve adopted a win at all costs mentaility instead of the hard but fair mentality that sets cricket aside from other sports.

Frankly the worst of the lot for it is Kohli, who is some kind of God amongst men over there and so this behaviour will cascade down generations so easily due to his influence

Absolutely spot on. He's another I wouldn't tire of smacking all over. Their arrogance is repulsive as is their actions against its neighbour.
