Haway always.. Bar a few red n white geordies who spell howay but they still lads fans pends how you speak but most of us its haway

It's always been Ha'way. That lot were the same (there is photographic evidence from the 70's). Just like everything else (John Hall era) they have attempted to distort history. Fuck them. We are Sunderland. We know.

In 1979 at Swan Hunters as an apprentice when the vitriolic poison started coming out from that lot it was always Howay for them and Haway from us. Look at 1973.

However you’re making a legitimate point, why is it on the 1940’s programmes . Shame no one gives a fcuk to take you serious :lol:

I bet there is an interesting story behind it somewhere, you’d need people in their 80’s to tel you this one
 
I'd be more interested in finding out how "haway/howay" means "come on". I bet there's an interesting story behind it.

Apparently in the Phillipines "haway" means exposed/become visible. I wonder if it's somehow derived from that.
