SOL era home crowd...

So out of all the grounds in the country ours is the only place where the home fans get on the players back?? And our ground is the place where away sides thrive on it ?? Mental stat that mind !!!!
Not reality though

I don't hear those crowds groaning at the first stray pass or see lots of journalists writing up their home support as a problem season after season.

Not the only place, but possibly the most notorious. How many managers have said words to the effect of "if you can frustrate them at home the crowd will get on their backs" about us?

You're kidding yourself if you think it isn't an issue.
Do you listen to every press conference throughout the country ?? Or maybe its because you take special attention to what other managers say about us when playing us

You don’t hear them, probably because they pass you by, whilst you follow safc and hear anything that’s said

Play poorly in a home game, at any level, you will be booed off the park. That is very much reality

I disagree completely. Our crowd turn quicker and more fiercely than others.

This, how many players have we destroyed like this in the past....He got shit tonight even when he was winning headers etc cause no fucker was feeding off him but apparently that was his fault.
There was one on Tuesday where the ball was falling from about 20m in the air, coming directly down about 15 yards out and he tried to flick it on to someone else, and people started twisting cos he didn't shoot.

Fucker would have given himself whiplash.

We’ll leave it here. You have a worthy opinion, as you do, I completely disagree.

Let’s watch a game this weekend and if the home side is playing poorly and losing, to hear what occurs?

Honeyman yesterday.."difficult place to play when things arent going well"

Mcgeady tonight.."difficult here when you go a goal down and crowd get anxious"

FFS

It isn't mate. Some fan, who don't have to play in that environment, have decided so.

Numerous players and managers from our team and the opposition are all wrong or lying.

Mate, I was there and remember it. Hard to admit after how his career with us turned out.....but at that point all he'd done was fail to keep us up as our main signing and fail to look impressive in division one.
I know how he was viewed at the time and I was there too, as we're many others on here I'm sure.

I'm not saying there's not a grain of truth in what you're saying as I know how you can remember daft things to do with football but I doubt it was anything more than a very small minority

...is a massive factor in why we will never kick on.

It's been evident since the first home game where things didn't go out way. Norwich game in 1997, berating the team even though they were creating bucket loads of chances, because we weren't winning. A few weeks later Quinn was being stretchered off to a huge cheer. You're not allowed to mention these things now because they offend the ego of the "best support in the world" brigade.

We need to stick with the team through adversity, which seems to be beyond our home crowd. The pressure on the team first half was massive and palpable from 4,000 miles away. Groans, boos, sarcastic cheers. Unbelievable.

Results are disappointing, no question. The home crowd however have to take a look at themselves and their role in making the SOL a difficult place to play for the home team.

Tin hat off because it's true even though people will kick off. 20 years of getting on our own players backs is evidence enough, away team love coming here and have for years.

What do you do personally do remedy this?

Atmosphere when we got it back to 1-2 onwards was as good as it's been this season IMO. We do however have a lot of negative, embittered fans who have got into the habit of slating our own team for every mistake (understandable perhaps considering the shite we've had to put up with for years).

you work for the media?....fans were grea tonight...once given something to cheer.
Earlier in season Jack Ross stated its down to players to lift fans after years(we are in 3rd division!) of shite....not fans to lift players! We were there again tonight(i personally like many have been to Oxford, two home games and another coming in just over a week).Sick of this criticism of a crowd of 28000 who turn up when its on telly in third tier...we have great fans...and will , like the second half, get behind any players that show commitment, desire and respect for the club,,,hence the turn out.We have in the main great fans and look at the ex players coming out in recent weeks praising the club and fans ..when it dawns on them they only had to give one hundred per cent to be appreciated.A minority will moan..no different to any club...but Christ weve had some dross,,,and this "pressure" stuff..sorry dosnt wash with me. Easy out when things start going wrong. We are now clued up to this "excuse".Been used before several times and wont stick....perform and will be backed...like any job really
