48pts and a Cup Semi

Wasting my breath here but always feel this place needs a bit of a reality check.

Nobody is happy we aren’t kicking on. Not one supporter, player or coaching staff member believes we are performing to our full capability but the reality is there is a hell of a lot still to play for.

Missed the first half so can’t really comment but going front the second half we looked positive going forward just lacked a bit of composure when necessary. Will that improve, 100% positive it will if Ross finds his best XI and sticks with it.

Oh and fuck right off with the Jack Dross bollocks, idiotic and embarrassing that people are already naming him this and calling for his head. He should shoulder some blame for the failure to put teams away, he appears to be the stop them from scoring and we have a good chance of winning type manager. That hasn’t quite worked of late and losing our most potent striker hasn’t helped. Grigg will get his goals but to come into a team half way through a season is tough.

I do think that some on here believe we are still a Premier League/Championship side that somehow found themselves in League 1. Well sorry but all we are is a big club rebuilding a team in the third tier. Should we be doing better? Maybe? Are some players underperforming? Yes? Does the manager need to rethink how we set ourselves up? Yes.

But that’s it. Our players aren’t shit, they are League 1 players. The manager isn’t over his head he just needs a rethink and work with the players in training to find a solution. We need to go up I Understand that and it will be a massive failure if we don’t. A lot still to play for though so I’m not going to start hitting the panic button just yet.
Brilliant lost and wholeheartedly agree

He should know by now . 13 draws later and he still pers8sts with an isolated player up front. I really don't get why managers persist with something that obviously doesn't work.
Doesn’t anyone other than athletico Madrid play 2 up front these days ?

this is the concern for me we lack identity/philosophy/identifiable style and seem unmotivated
Let’s just kick a f***ing ball eh

To me if the manager doesnt know his best team or formation at this stage in the season we as fans need to worry because its been awful since November. Slow play, no pressing, barely any chances created in comparison to our rivals for promotion(other than tonight).

This.

The random dropping and re introducing of players would suggest he has no clue of his best 11.

Can I just repeat, the post was in relation to what we have to play for. Which in relation to our position is a hell of a lot. I hope we never have to enter the checkatrade ever again but still want us to win it. We have had seasons of shit with nothing but failure to ponder, with promotion still a very high possibility with so many points to play for and despite its lack of prestige a potential cup final to try and win I’m just a bit sick of hearing the same abject negativity that has blighted the club for so many years. Things aren’t going as planned right now but no reason why it can’t change.

The wank-a-thon ower the checkatrade trophy man ,it makes our interterter cup look like the fu@#ing champions league :lol:

Superb post

You are the type of clown that gives us a bad name.

It's not a FACT in the slightest.

Remember there are teams arguably as big or bigger than us that have spent time in this league as well.

Give the owners and manager a chance to get us sorted man.

Which team or teams in this league are arguably bigger than us? Either in terms of history, fanbase, stadium, training facilities, academy, budget (according to our chairman remember), amount spent this season?

That’s not to say we are entitled to run away with this division but we should absolutely certainly be comfortably getting out of this division.

Great post enjoyed the read and the chance to hit a few ignore buttons for some of those responding

Probably the most sensible post for a long while - I got pelters for writing about scunny - they are 9 pints off the play offs (3 wins) - but some on this forum fail to have a sensible debate - others are quite intuitive and know their football inside and out. Keep the faith - all will be well - we need to get behind all the lads who pull on the shirt because their all trying their best at whatever level they are.

I did say 'have' been at this level, but if it's open to debate, Portsmouth won the FA Cup not that long ago and played European football.

Don't forget it took Southampton and Leicester City to go down here to sort themselves out.

Then you have the likes of Leeds and the Sheffields who haven't got back to the top flight, and then worst case scenario you look at the likes of Coventry. Ipswich look set to be the next team to slip down.

You're right that we aren't entitled to run away with the division, but just because we all have our rose tinted specs on, it doesn't mean that we should get out comfortably either

It’s got nothing to do with rose tinted specs. Everything about the club, literally everything, means that it should be getting out of this league comfortably. If it doesn’t, there’s mismanagement at some level.

Flapping won't help..We need to keep positive and support the manager and players..booing and ironical cheers when a player does something positive doesn't help it's just stupid...

Absolutely solid post. Anybody who can disagree with any aspect of it is a moron.

I know we've plummeted down the football hierarchy, but please can people stop citing being in the Checkatrade SF as evidence of a successful season to date. It's an utterly pointless trophy, and whilst we don't play full strength teams in it, it may well be a factor in our downturn as the season has gone on, given the games we've played in it, the pile up we have of fixtures in the league (yes the cup isn't played on league fixture days but nevertheless it blocks up opportunities of playing catch up league games in blank midweeks).

This season is pivotal and could define our club for a generation. Going up is the only priority. It's in our hands.....we either seize the opportunity, or we blow it.
