£10m not going buy much of a hotel m8, certainly not one to generate £2.5m profit. I'd rather he took the £40m to vegas, and came back with £80m, a Texas wife and a stid tattoo.
Ok but the OP stated hotels so I assumed SD meant hotels.I think the 'hotel' thing isn't the point really because it could be anything. It's the business principle I'm wondering about.
I might have a look for an upcoming game. It was Barnsley on a Tuesday night that I looked last and it was £96.I'd check again mate. It's a lot cheaper than that I think.
We live in a big ole world marra. Hotels could be anywhere.Exactly, having never listened to the pod cast not sure if hotels are to be near the ground but even so there cant be much demand for another 4 hotels in Sunderland either
It generates nothing for 28 days a month. Gates receipts for maybe 3 home games a month and one concert a year. Hotels was just an example - what about the principal ?Our asset, the stadium, does generate money m8, it generates gate receipts, concerts, product sales etc, he's talking about being creative with the assets. Problem is you can only borrow against it once, then you're mortgaged up, and banks don't lend money for nowt. He can't borrow against it, For a speculative business, like hotels, and guarantee return, so to do it is just a gamble, just like my idea of going to vegas with a wad of cash.
Good to know.Hotels are open all year, not just for occasional events.
The OP said £2.5m each which I assumed SD said ?Think they are saying £2.5m for all 4. Just over 6% return. They’d probably do better.
calm down StewartSounded like a basic example he gave not a rounded up business plan. People are getting ahead of themselves.
There will be people who will complain if we mortgage the stadium
There will be people who complain of lack of investment in the playing staff
There will be people who complain about anything and everything the club does.
There were people who complained when we were second top of the Premier League.
There were some who complained after two top 7 finishes, despite it being the best football/time in the last 45 years.
He can't win as there is always be a complainer.
He must be mad to take the shit he has been dealt by so called supporters.
We had a rich owner and we spent millions on shit players who didn’t have SAFC at heart. Look where that got us.Sounded like a basic example he gave not a rounded up business plan. People are getting ahead of themselves.

Just checked. 76 quid for the Friday night Accrington Stanley game in a couple of weeks. Not bad that like.I might have a look for an upcoming game. It was Barnsley on a Tuesday night that I looked last and it was £96.
Do you know Martin Bain ?I wouldn’t mind mate, I’m a Contracts Manager
Just read it again. 25% return is pushing itThe OP said £2.5m each which I assumed SD said ?
Best listen to the RR podcast mate for context.Ok but the OP stated hotels so I assumed SD meant hotels.

I'm 63, anything longer than a 10 year plan can go and get fucked ...
... borrow a fortune now and invest in a massive bribery programme to win the FA Cup and get into Europe.
I can drink mesel into a stupor and drown in a 'look at me' bridge jumping incident in a country I can't pronounce.
Job done, future generations can enjoy playing at the Stewart Donald Stadium in Crook and wondering where it all went wrong .... heh heh![]()
Isn’t this how the spiral starts?
Did he say around the ground? That would be daft, I doubt he means that.
