Broke their record fee, that means so much to them, we’ve heard so many times how the poor bastards haven’t broke it since they signed Owen.

the difference is with Owen ( and Sheare r ) they broke their transfer record with a truly world class striker. T heir new guy is an unknown unproven entity

They could both be shite and we've both overpaid. Could both be mint and we haven't. Pointless twisting on 21 or ripping ya spine out over either yet.

Agreed. But highlights the difference in the fans default setting.

Could be a werld beeta or could be shite.

All I keep hearing is how they’ve broke their record transfer fee, means a lot to them.

This. If he had cost £5m they'd be kicking off.

Skysports wankathon, He's rated 6th in MLS for dribbles shots etc ......6TH !!!! hes going to a failure......:lol:

No idea why posters are talking about Almiron in the same breath as strikers?

He doesn't play up front, he is a creative midfielder and to be fair is a very tidy player (MLS level or not) and Atlanta played some superb football under Tata last season.

He moved to the MLS and was a DP so was getting huge wages, it's an attractive league for South American players.

Newcastle probably paid over the odds, but sure every other club in England bar Spurs has been doing that time and time again.

I like taking the piss out of the Mags as much as anyone, but when the majority on here never saw the player play before it's a bit silly to dismiss him isn't it?
What's DP ?

Paraguay aren't your sterotypical South American national team with attacking flair or guile, I always found Paraguay to be more of a workman like team known for its battling qualities and hard work in comparison to other South American sides. Not exactly a side ideal for attacking players?

As said Newcastle probably did spend over the odds on him, but it will be interesting to see how he fairs out.
You are about right to say they are a battling side. They typically play 3 attackers and 8 behind the ball.

He played very little in the last competitive fixtures. More in recent friendlies as they don't call up players in Europe or Asia so much.

He is alright, might get a few goals as a number 10. Not expecting much of a return for Newcastle here. Will be amazed if this is considered value for money 18 months from now. Would much rather have signed Derlis González and he failed the grade at Dinamo Kiev despite clearly being streets ahead of Almirón.

They've spent £21m on a player who is lesser known than our £3m signing

Not surprising the amount of social media mags who are wanking all over this signing. I think it's a huge gamble. He's far more likely to flop and fail to adapt to the English game and the culture. He'll be loaned out to Espanyol or Sporting Lisbon next season for a year long loan.
