If we get Grigg then I don't think we can categorically write off his ability in the league above. A lot of the Wigan fans (sorry to harp on about them!) think he's up to the standard providing the team are playing football, on the ground which is to his strengths. Apparently the first month or so of the season they were doing just that and he scored goals and they won games. Since then, mainly due to injuries to key midfielders (Powell etc) Cook has lost his nerve and thrown out the blueprints to his success there and resorted to hit and hope long ball and Grigg has been a fish out of water since. Cook even said something to this effect.

With regards to Leadbitter Stoke and others in the Championship were after him so there's a suggestion that others believe he still has something to offer at that level.

Have they said anything about him in his first season in the championship with Wigan? Seemed to struggle then. I know they had afew manager changes but from what I remember they were poor as a team. Even last year when we were poor Grabban stood out as a high level championship striker.

Defoe>Grabban>Maja.

3 prolific finishers fecked off in 18 month.

Frustrating following us at times like.

Not specifically. I assume they're factoring that in but there again you don't know how much their views are swayed by his performances in League One.

Why will anyone we sign suddenly improve from scoring at a rate of 1 in 4 or 5 chances to 1 in 2? Sometimes, you've got to let your prejudice go.
Why have they got to improve, you just talk rubbish all the time.

Grigg in his time at Wigan in league one is a 1 in 2 scorer and he appears to be our main target.

Nothing at all to suggest he couldnt do that for us.

You have to let your hard on for Maja go. He's gone, he didn't want to be here I think it's time you move on he is replaceable!

You're comparing one goal every two games with one goal every two chances. I don't have a hard on for Maja. I do think we need to do something other than sign another forward, though.

Scored goals against Charlton, Peterborough & Barnsley creating them by himself.

I know they're not very good but Sinclair played over 600 minutes for us upfront, scored 1, Wyke has 1 in over 400 minutes & Watmore hasn't scored in the league games where he's played upfront. Maguire has 1 in his time upfront and that was at Accrington when closing down the keeper. Gooch had 30 mins upfront against Walsall, didn't get a chance
Wyke and Watmore had essentially no preseason and didn’t play much at all for the first half of the season. We’re not seeing the best of them because they’re not fully fit.

If we are expecting goals from them then it’s going to be a struggle

Wyke is a proven goalscorer in this league. He will score if he gets chances, but at the minute we’re asking him to be some sort of Quinny type who fashions chances for others in the air. He’s not that and never was that at Carlisle or Bradford, he’s a poacher who just happens to be tall.
