I don’t think stating a player is not for sale and substantiating it by using 4 rejected (increased) bids is the best way to start a bidding war tbf and even if it did we would end up either having to sack it off or end up paying more than we originally would.

It seems more like they’ve gone public to play up to their fans amid intense speculation around a player their fans like.

Will Grigg isn’t the be all or end all. Just move on to someone else. Ideally a loan if we can get a good one. We don’t need to spend millions now.

Isn’t Boro still paying most of Leadbitter’s wages if he comes? Agree with all of that.
I'm not sure about boro mate as all I've seen is he's taking a massive pay cut to come here.

I’ve read conflicting reports tbh. One saying he’s taking massive paycut and another saying they are paying 75% of his wages. He rejected dropping his wage at the beginning of the season though iirc.

I suppose there might be sound bites coming from both clubs.

I think what it does show is average championship players are on a big wedge..

Maybe they are half preparing their fans for when they accept the 5th or 6th bid, especially as he is popular like you say. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wants to come, both clubs know that and its just a game now until they agree. If hes our number 1 target then i’m glad they haven’t just moved on (yet)

Sounds like they might sell if they get a stupid offer but I don’t think their fans would be happy if they sold him a week after categorically stating he wasn’t for sale and I don’t want us to make a stupid offer either.

At the same time we have no goalscorer and 3 days (Presuming nowt is happening on a Sunday night) to do something with our backs to the wall. Stupid offers might be all that’s left.

I’d still be happy with a decent loan, presuming there’s one available.

4 days.

We need to draw a line under Grigg one way or another tomorrow.

I think Wigan are holding out as every club wants a goal scorer, so his price will go up day by day

Wigan paid the thick end a million for him and probably want that back. We see he's not getting a game so think he's surplus to requirements so are probably offering about half of that. It's up to us to meet the demands or move on.

Personally I'd rather we moved for a player who could do well now and possibly do the business in the Championship too. I don't think Grigg is that man.

The Wigan manager was very articulate in describing why Grigg hasn’t been starting. Apparently the manager thinks Grigg needs to be playing alongside certain players for the system to work when he starts, and those players have been out injured. Let’s hope IF we do sign him we’ve figured that one out too.

I heard that and thought it was as much for Grigg himself as us. To be honest it smelt of bullshit!

We’ll soon see, enjoy your day off :D

If the monthly loss is 400k that probably means if you remove Cattermole and Oveido’s wages then we’re about breaking even.
Take off our top 4 highest earners would cover that but what are we left with?? I don't believe a club our size can only break even with the squad we have remaining. That's never right.
