Did I say that?

I'd just be interested to know how good a contract we did offer him. Just because the owner says it's "very good" doesn't make it so, and I couldn't give two fucks what every other Tom Dick and Harry in the league are paying their players.
We apparently offered him what he asked for, I appreciate we only have SD’s word for that but if it wasn’t true I’d have thought his agent would have made it known very quickly to discredit SD and the club and protect his player. He had no hesitation going to SSN to say he wasn’t signing the day after Maja told JR he was

We will see anyways. I'll leave this for now see where we're at in 9 days. They need more players that can make the step up though that's for sure. Don't want to get stuck with too many 'good league 1 players'

There's always some that will suprise you and step up and some that will get you through a while with hard work, but it would be nice to get one or two with potential to step up who can actually improve, but unless you're lucky they're gonna cost and maybe won't even come here. Hard enough getting there in the first place though.

I do feel we have maybe signed a few too many players like Flanagan, James, Wyke probably and Power who have done it at this level but probably won't be able to step up. It would be nice to take a good player or two from clubs who are maybe struggling up there, have come down or are already excelling at this level, but where the size and stature of the club seems to have pulled in the odd one of those in the past it seems they'd rather go to Bristol or Rotherham now.

For me any real potential or quality has to be plucked from within or lower levels at the moment, unless we spend big and that seems unlikely.

We have tried, Billy Sharpe for example, but unfortunately couldn't get it over the line. What a signing that would have been though.

As you said, the money is the main issue. Players will get more at the likes of Bristol or Rotherham and in-turn the size and stature of the club doesn't appeal as much when we have to operate so frugally (understandably).

Teams going up from League One tend to do alright in the Championship, and I think we might be surprised at how attractive we suddenly become again if we do go up and have looser purse strings!

Course it's a shite deal. We're losing our top scorer & our best outfield player in January. We have 1 senior striker & it's Wyke who's been injured all season.

Club can't afford to not go up if they sell him. We were told we will be stronger after January yet we are weakening our team and losing our best player. A player that could possibly make the step up & replacing him with potentially Will Grigg

Don't know why we're pretending it's a good deal. It's not.
This but @kildaremackem will disagree.
