Iirc McNair wouldn't step foot in Sunderland, Asoro had something happen at club which meant he wanted to leave & McManaman wanted to leave as soon as he heard of wigans interest.
With mcmannamen that’s different to it being reported he didn’t want to play for us, he wanted to go back to Wigan, fair enough.
I don’t recall that about McNair, I do remember N’dong said he wouldn’t.
Asoro yes, something had clearly happened under the previous regime, if I remember Ross was hopeful he’d change his mind.

Like I said earlier in the thread as soon as he the whispers started from his agent that he wanted to move we should have sold him ASAP.

We have to get out of the culture which stems from years ago that the players are doing us a favour by playing for us.

We need a squad full of players that want to play for us.
I’d rather have a squad of good players than a squad of shite players who want to play for us.

I don't agree with that at all. Loads of Maja's goals have been set up by McGeady/Gooch playing through balls or James/Matthews getting crosses in. The Charlton goal (1st game of the season) is the only one I can think of where he's "created his own goal" - even then, he was played in by Matthews
You could say that about van Nistelrooy. Scoring goals is an achievement in itself

How often does asoro play these days?
His own fault though. Swansea gave him opportunities, he started season in their side and was awful.

Swansea are starting kids that have been playing national league and that. Potter throws everyone in its good to see. They're doing well too.

That's Maja's career done then. Lets be honest, it was questionable if he was even going to be able to make the step up to the Championship if we do happen to go up. He's light years away from Ligue 1 level. He has been badly advised by his agent here but the agent will get his commission so won't care.

Anyone, it's hardly the end of the world. Get someone like Grigg in to replace him and we'll be fine. Grigg is a superior player with a far greater track record in the division.

so thats an opinion not a fact from the people involved. We have said numerous times we have the biggest budget and we want to follow the dortmund model. Selling players is part of that model.
He doesn’t want to be here, haven’t you learnt anything from past seasons, paying vast wages for players who didn’t want to play for us didn’t work.

It's obviously a risk letting it go to tribunal but I'm sure there'd have been afew English sides offering him good money as well as abroad.

I'd be fine if we were playing decent football & after someone better than Will Grigg by the way. Not fine with weakening the side after getting all the bullshit about strengthening. Don't think they'll get a player as good as Maja.

Donald reckoned we already had money to spend, budget must be through the roof now?
Mentioned on here that's it's all clause related and next to nothing up front.
