We don't know what Maja's side is, though. We don't know what the terms of the deal are. For all we know, the sticking point (if there is one) might be over something that no-one has considered and is a ridiculous thing for the club to be digging their heels in, over. We don't know, so I don't see how anyone can take any sides, other than their reacting to stuff going on inside their heads.

Who has the most to lose if the contract doesn’t get signed?

the point is we are sunderland fdans not maja fans..so the only side tp taje is sunderlands (that doesnt mean siding with the owners like but with the clib)

Knowing what the club has gone through ye would hope hed think twice.especually how 'humble' he apparently is.wouldnt blame the fans if they got on his back.they entitled to if theyve paid their money.just like hes entitled to leave when his contract is up.
for me if he doesnt want to be first team playing week in week out in front of the best supporters in the land.in one of the best stadiums in the country..get rid
You don’t know what he has been offered to be fair.

If he can get double elsewhere I wouldn’t blame him, he could get a career ending injury next week

We aren’t talking about a player who has made his millions already

We don't know what Sunderland's side is, though. Unless you know the detail of the contract offered and what Maja wants, if it's different to this, then it's not possible to determine what's in anyone's best interests.

Suppose its indicative of the modern day footballer and their scum agents.on the other hand just trying to get the best deal for their client in a limited career. To me though loyalty counts for a lot..even if ye cant spend it in Asda !!

It wont be anywhere near £2 million through compo scheme imho, he has played 20 odd league games, is a promising youngster for sure but thats it.

Here's how its worked out, no gaurantee of anything, particularly with his lack of experience.

The compensation would be worked out at end of contract, not now. So he will have (hopefully) played a lot more games. If his goals to games ratio remains similar and there are substantial wages offered by several clubs (which there undoubtedly would be) then we will get a decent level of compensation. No guarantees as you rightly say, but taking everything into account and looking at settlements in the past then it will be in excess of 2m. That’s if he plays and scores a few more..

How would the contract not getting signed affect Maja negatively?
He could get injured between now and the contract ending. No physio, no wages.
He could discover that there aren't any better offers, come June and that the grass isn't greener.
He'll have less cash in his pocket, between now and June... if the rumours of him being on a low figure are true, he would stand to lose out on anywhere between £10 and £60k, plus a signing on fee.
Image rights may be compromised, as may sponsorship deals.
Fans might turn against him resulting in a loss of form, reducing his value / attraction, come the Summer.
He might stop giving a toss, as he's got no buy-in to the club (see above).

I'm sure that there are loads of other ways in which not signing will have a negative impact, but, there's a bunch to be going on with.

whixh is why he xould fuck it up..who do you think benefiotted more from asoro leaving ? sunderland or him?
His agent.

You’d have to ask Asoro...but he was sitting on our bench for peanuts, now he’s sitting on Swansea’s for 20k a week. I would say Asoro did from looking in as an outsider.

Josh Maja update. Yesterday Josh asked to see Jack to say he will sign. Today I got a call from Sky TV saying he won't sign. Josh advised his agent has said don't sign but no courtesy to tell the club - Also we offered what the agent indicated!!! Busy January ahead
