he must have signed apro contract? if he was in the academy he would have been a schoalr right? not a professional, and then he graduates from the academy and becomes a professional, and gets apay rise?

He did but we aren’t going to throw 10k p/w at a 17/18 year old who has never played a full team game for a championship side, or ever been close to one before though are we?

A few points -

1) the big boys can sit back and get more evidence before signing players for whatever price necessary
2) I’ve seen him more than most if not all of the scouts
3) I have no idea how the scouts see him, and neither have you

As I said earlier, it’s my opinion and I stand by it. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m right - only time will tell kidda
big clubs dont wait, they sign em young..

He won’t sign a new contract, there will be offers of twice what we’re offering him on the table.
if he had those offers surely he would have said no by now?

but niether were we going to offer a 600pw pro contract..non league players get more...as do academy players...

He bounced around a bit before we signed him. Palace youths, City, Fulham. Nobody else offered him a pro contract. We didnt have any sort of bidding war or competition. I’d imagine he was on more when he signed but relegations have reduced it. Lad who told me also mentioned something else to back it up as well, which would suggest he isn’t on as much as people think. Now someone else has quoted the exact amount I was told. Might be true or it might not but he’s also told me something totally unlinked to Maja which I’m waiting to see if happens (but could be a while - but sounds so ridiculous that if it is true he knows a lot more than I would expect him to) but again I’m not putting that on here. He did get PDC sacking right well before anyone else knew but I think there was an element in luck about that.

im certainly not questioning your honesty. But surely he wasnt kicked out of the fulham academy right? I mean he chose to leave there to come to us? And didnt he have a trial at Man City? Now they didnt offer him a contract but surely to even have a trial at that club implies either a certain level of ability (or an exagerrated sense of his own worth)?

People still seem to be missing the point that this (along with a few others) is yet another piece of legacy from the Short era. What's the point of bringing young lads through, investing time and effort in them and tying them down to long term deals when you recognise their potential?

think he would have signed a pro contract in 2016?

what if we do recognise his potetial..but he thinks he is better than that and ois saying no?

I can’t imagine we would have offered 18k p/w but it’s not as bad as it sounds. Sell him for 5 million in a years time and it’s a much bigger profit than selling him now for a fraction of that. Not that I would want to sell him like if we tie him down.
