Very disappointing sales to date. Can't believe there's only going to be two stands open there's so little interest.
End of the day, it's the u21s we're playing. My first game in this competition I'll be going too. I don't want to go, but feel I need too. Don't blame anyone who thinks it's a joke of a game and understand why they don't want to go. If anything, it shows the mags we aren't as bothered about this as they would want us to be.

Amazed the crowd is this big. It's a rubbish game and most there will wonder why they bothered. Given we're out of the FA cup I wonder if the management might be working towards a day out at Wembley however. Not that many matches to get there now and you have to assume we will do enough to beat a junior side at home given the PR disaster failing to do so would create.

Yeah I think it would be more embarrassing if we got about 30k. “30,000 to watch our under 21’s” etc. I’m still going mind.

Everything about this fixture stinks. It’s a no win for us on every level.

It’s our first team versus their kids. If we win, it’s expected and only their bairns. If we lose, we cannot even beat their young uns. If we get a big crowd, we’re obsessed with them. If we get a low crowd, it’s shite support.

And it’s £15 for the privelege. I feel duty bound to go but there’s a lot putting me off

If we win that's definitely a win mind. And I think the obsession argument has been blarn by their demand for 5k tickets and rocking up at most of our games this season and mobbing up with other supporters.

My thoughts entirely remember being in a pub pre the Accrington Stanley game with a load of Sunderland fans watching the draw live I couldn't get my head around why they were so pleased.

I’d go but I need to leave work early to make it for mid week games. Completely not arsed about this competition so I’m not going. Obviously I leave early for every mid week league game.

Nobody’s is arsed apart from the Orcs up the road. If we’d been pezzled for what feels like an eternity by our neighbours I would probably be clamming to claim some sort of derby victory too. They have kids growing up now that have never seen Newcastle beat Sunderland.

It's been said this is a game we 'can't win' but I disagree.

If we get through and win the trophy it'll be amusing to look back, in years to come, and see Newcastle on the list of teams we beat

It would be shite if the reverse happened.

Knocking them out is still important if we don't win the trophy.
We'll never hear the end of it we lose.
