They’re hideous places. Last time for me was in Lewisham hospital A&E at 2am last year (not drink related), it was bloody horrendous.

I reckon I know why as well. Whenever I do nightshift down in the path labs the amount of bloods that come down for people that are drunk, hungover or 'gen unwell' is ridiculous. It always ends up a 4 hour wait, needlessly. I can imagine them getting pissed off having to book people in for nowt.
