Great point made on Talksport this morning, which should probably mean this line becomes unacceptable from here on in regarding Test Cricketers - and it’s thanks to Jos Buttler.

He’s been excellent this tour and had shown his intelligence and adaptability. He’s had criticism from most on here, myself included, but he more than anyone has adapted his game for different innings’, bowlers and pitches.

Fair play to him, I concede now that the selectors were absolutely right to take a punt on him.

Bob Willis was an early advocate for him to play in the test side

I think 30 in this series has been more than useful to be honest, not many centuries have been scored and I think against the turning ball there’s never been any point where the pitches have been easy to bat on.

He is a extremely intelligent cricketer who was unfairly pigeon holed as a just a hitter.

OK....from here it looked like you made a comment criticising his scores this series then changed your story when called out on it. :lol:

Out of interest, when's the last time Stokes or Ali hit a test hundred? :-O

If you read my opinions on Buttler:

I didn’t think he should play in the first place
I have admitted he has proved me wrong
He needs to kick on and make some bigger scores, nice 50s rarely win matches (albeit on this tour it has been sufficient)

And fully agree on Ali and Stokes. And Root come to that. We’re rarely punishing teams with (as much as I hate the term) daddy hundreds when players get in.

The 3rd innings of this test is a prime example. We should have been out of sight, but they have a sniff. Still

It's all relative surely, as you say on this tour because of the conditions Buttler's nice 50s as you put it have been more than sufficient, the way he has assessed the wickets, the position in the game and the way he has gone about things have been very impressive indeed.

There is no doubt his innings although not massive scores have effected the result of the games!

I think you right about you been picky about him very picky in fact.
