No chance. It would genuinely damage us if we extended the ground. Sure the owners can see this.If England pitch for and then win the World Cup bid I think that there would be a reasonable chance of the SOL being selected and then extended.
Shush that man.Well I can only point out that Manchester City played in this division 20 years ago and averaged 28 thousand .Now they average 54 thousand and are looking at further increasing capacity .
Backed by an owner using loose change to be Top Dog I heardWell I can only point out that Manchester City played in this division 20 years ago and averaged 28 thousand .Now they average 54 thousand and are looking at further increasing capacity .

Ridiculous? Sunderland supporters wanting the Club to grow and be one of the biggest clubs in the country? Aye ridiculousOh come on this is getting ridiculous now. Fs.

I wasn't saying either that we should or should not increase our capacity, nearly putting some numbers out there ,and by the way we averaged just short of 39 that season in the second tier .Oh come on tis is getting ridiculous now. Fs.
Using man city as a reason as to why we should be looking to extend the ground is ridiculous. As you well know.Ridiculous? Sunderland supporters wanting the Club to grow and be one of the biggest clubs in the country? Aye ridiculous![]()
The inference was clearly there.I wasn't saying either that we should or should not increase our capacity, nearly putting some numbers out there ,and by the way we averaged just short of 39 that season in the second tier .
Whats the point? We'd probably have been better keeping it at 42k in hindsight
When we had a team competing in the top ten of the premier league 47,000 wasnt enough. The new owners have ambition to take us there and chuck in the german model of affordable football why cant we look to push on. We are uniquely placed in this country man to do this. A lot of clubs would kill to be in our position.Using man city as a reason as to why we should be looking to extend the ground is ridiculous. As you well know.

We averaged over 46k twice. Other than that, we've only had a few seasons where we were averaging about 1-1.5k over the original 42k. All in all, I don't think the extension was worth it from that point of view - given the remaining 12 seasons where we have been below 42k (sometimes significantly below). Aside from the costs of building it, there's also ongoing costs. Plus the detrimental effect on the atmosphere in the stadium.
That being said, Bob mentioned the other day in the podcast that the extension was necessary in order to be able to proceed with further developments around the stadium.
Exactly.Well yes of course I'd love it to be so.This is my last posting tonight (promise) I'm off to the boozer .However in 1971 when we averaged 15k did anyone say that a 50 plus Roker was too big and a relic of the past no we dreamt of better days ahead and 2 years down the line we saw Roker full once more
Oh, the irony...Exactly.
As I have said hopefully the new owners have a lot more vision than some doom mongers on here. MAGS or WUMs Im sure some of them are.
