I'd be embarrassed. If i'd been in a well paid job for 19 years, i'd have made sure there was provision for a golden handshake. I'm sure he has too. So why the hell are they going around with a big fuck-off begging hat ?
Pleased we are not chipping in.

He shouldnt get it as hes been paid fpr the job hes doing, however hes done a great job for premier league clubs
Aye, but that was only £2.5 million a season, once he's payed his gas an leccy there won't be much left.

My first reaction was disgrace. But he has done an absolutely phenomenal job for premier league clubs during this time by way of the tv deals and subsequent increase in revenue. When put into context of the persimmons boss and his 75m bonus it isn’t extreme. And all 20 clubs seem up for it.

But with an average yearly salary of £2.5m a year does he really need it? Of course not. Would be much better off going into grass roots or helping ex players or youngsters who don’t make it get on in life or something

I'm guessing the mail comments are worth reading.

It's not like he has asked for it to be fair but it does show just how detached from reality the top table of football is.

Can't wait for them to form their super league and fuck right off.

Millions of pounds for the treasury as surely any money will be treated as wages and go through PAYE.

If i is in his contract he should get it. If it isn't it is a grotesque notion.

We live in a world where rich people look after rich people. Why would you be surprised at this?

The trouble is with these sort of characters is that they probably don't think they are really rich! They move in circles of rich people, many of whom will be much richer than they themselves are.

As John Steinbeck had it in The Winter Of our Discontent, "There are only two amounts of money; no money and not enough".

He's made the PL a multi billion pound product which those twenty teams make hundreds of millions from. In that context it's not that much of a parting gift...

Hope the mags have to pay more.

Was it really down to him? Or would it have happened whoever was in charge?
Would he have the same impact on the Swiss League or the Czech League for example?

2 years wages from a whip round as a leaving present man

But the worst thing is its not the owners or chief execs coughing up, it's coming from the clubs pocket
