We massively leveraged loop-holes in players contracts to get players from France to sign.

Not sure how citing Ginola and Robert who both at the time came for high money strengthens your argument? Or citing more elite players who went for big money elsewhere?

It almost looks like you've missed my point.
You claimed it was an untapped resource. I just pointed out that players had been coming from France for years so hardly untapped.

You’ve now moved on from explosions in transfer markets to untapped resource and now contract loopholes.

Likes of Ba, Remy and Sissoko have went on to be but part players at top end premier league clubs but the rest haven’t really come close to bettering that 5th place which would suggest the players Pardew had weren’t that greater after all and he just made the most out of them.

Something Rafa doesn’t seem to be able to do.

Untapped resource in so much that you could still get decent players for a fraction of what a comparative British player would have cost at the time. I didn't think I'd have to spell it out.

How many of the current crop of players would even get the chance to be bit part players at top-end clubs?

Has that changed?

Well you lot think Shelvey should be in England squad so there’s one surely.

Your keeper may get in as a squad filler and lascelles would certainly attract interest from at least top half sides.

Also surely the fact you don’t think many would get into top end sides would suggest Rafa hasn’t spent his £120m wisely.

Out.

What's the point when you're just going to use the opinion of others against me?

“Jonjo should have had Henderson’s shirt, far better player”

Here you are giving credence to Shelvey being in England squad ahead of a bit part top end player.

I don't think Loftus-Cheek should be in the squad either. You've ran it through that filter of yours again, haven't you?

Seriously though, things change and neither Shelvey or Loftus-Cheek would be in the squad for me.

But I'll address the rest of your point now. I'll take Dubravka and Lascelles but they are nothing compared to what Pardew had at his disposal. The Shelvey and Loftus-Cheek thing isn't really valid in my mind considering Loftus-Cheek is a Chelsea academy product and if he wasn't at Chelsea, they wouldn't be spending £25m-£35m on prising him away from Watford, Crystal Palace, etc.

Yes but loftus cheek is a bit part top end player and your question was which of your players could do that.

Now given you think Shelvey is a better bet than loftus cheek then by default that would mean Shelvey could be a bit part top end player in your eyes.

Regardless if you think loftus cheek should be a bit part top end player he is.

On the not spending wisely point, there have been some mis-steps but looking at what Fulham have spent (and where they are) and the fees Crystal Palace have paid in the past, it's difficult to get real value. Especially considering he needed to more or less overhaul the entire squad in summer 2016.

But as likes of Bournemouth and Watford are showing it’s not impossible either, particularly for a manager who’s held in such esteem by yourselves as Benitez.

Is this the same Bournemouth that have spent £25m on Jefferson Lerma this summer? And near enough £20m on Jordon Ibe and Nathan Ake?

Watford aren't shy of spending a few quid either, spent a fair bit on Andre Gray iirc.

Yes the same Bournemouth who haven’t spent as much as Newcastle over the last 3 seasons.

Also the same Watford who aren’t shy of spending a few quid and have only spent 10m more than the mags over last 3 seasons. That would indicate Newcastle aren’t shy of spending a few quid either surely.

Either of those teams had to completely overhaul their squad in the last 3 seasons, marra?

Must defend Rafa must defend Rafa

What a f***ing moron get your head out the sand man 6pts from the past 45 available

Wouldn’t swap Ross for Benitez right now, given the chance? Would anyone?
I'll go as far as saying Bouncy wont be able to do the job Ross is doing hes a chequebook manager 55m to win a league the likes of Dyche, Warnock, Houghton and many others have done well in on a shoestring budget

Haven't Sunderland spent the most in the division so far this season? Seems like Ross is a 'chequebook manager' too.
