It depends what your expectations are tbf. If they think they should be top 6, then yes Ashley is to blame. He simply has not spent enough to get top 6.

If they think they should be be comfortable but not ‘too comfortable’ like most of the league then Ashley has done more than enough over the years and doesn’t deserve any criticism really.... their squad isn’t the worst in the league. yet they are utter shit

McClaren actually had them playing some nice stuff - they were just defensively abysmal. Longer term he may have actually did a better job.

While I think over the seasons he’s spent plenty of money they spent next to nowt this season mind, if it were us a lot wouldn’t be happy, however Rafa is having a mare and some of the transfers are down to him. Like getting shot of mitrobitch, Rafa simply didn’t want him yet he’s doing well in a struggling side.

With Mitrovich they would probably be mid table

He has backed him though..... like I say, ask any nufc fan before the World Cup and they had shelvey as a shoe in for the squad and lascelles as a maybe. 2 England internationals he has (and Ashley has signed).

Wanna see bad management - look at Ellis short. He sold everything. Every single one of the kernts. If Ashley had sold shelvey I could understand - but he didn’t. He kept him and pays for him. That’s backing the manager
