It's not though is it ... loads of people making guesses, £310m is 'towards' £400m.

Staveley's offer included various caveats regarding relegation, the HMRC, etc.

The fact is that owning NUFC isn't a big deal for Ashley, despite the supporters believing the club is the centre of everyone's universe.

As much as I love the NE, including Newcastle, it's obvious there's very little there for the kind of buyer the Mags crave ....

... rich Sheikhs and Oligarchs aren't attracted by the chance of ' a great neet oot' in the self proclaimed party town.

A most unusual case of a group of people knifing themselves in the back while being totally unaware of what they're doing

What’s this then, scotch mist????

Plenty articles like this if you look....

I understand NUFC has a strong fanbase and spend large amounts of money on football strips etc. On a spreadsheet it makes perfect sense.

However what a spreadsheet won't tell you is how their fans get into the news for slapping horses about, knocking up fake coffins and shouting at shops.

If they want that to become a global brand they've got their work cut out.

"Can you come and help wor Keegan with his homework?"

"Howay man pet, I have to have this coffin ready for the funeral procession by tomorrow!"

I know the game is at Old Trafford, but the mags should be getting at least a point. Utd are a shambles and it’s debatable if Jose can turn things around. If Rafa parks the bus, he should receive abuse because Utd are there for the taking.

With regards to the takeover stuff; the same problems exist. Ashley wants back every penny and won’t sell until that happens. Ulimately that means any potential buyer will need 400m to buy, and then invest, within the club. At that price, there are better alternatives around

So now they want him as their owner when 2 months ago they called him the “Poundland Ashley” and loved the fact that Ellis had left us with additional liabilities?

Despite the fan base and merchandise, they don’t generate a huge amount of money. They are just another average football club

Nah 4-0 Man U

The good thing about Newcastle fans is that you can appease them by doing things that make them feel like a big club. Bang on about 58,000 fans week in week out. Get new signings to mention how they chose to sign for them over Sunderland, and sign former big name managers who have failed at their previous jobs and have no better offers.

The bad thing is that when that manager fails they don't blame him, because he is all that makes them feel like a big club, to admit he has failed, is to admit he isn't a world class manager, and to admit he isn't a world class manager, is to undermine the illusion they've built up that they are in fact a massive club. As a result all the blame will lie at your feet, because you're an easy target.

It's not hard to see why potential owners aren't battering down the door to buy them.

Scum fans don't worry. The annual buy out and spend 500 mill is back on as we head toward xmas:lol:

Incredible that some are getting excited as to what is another PR stunt.

This will run until February and then another window will be gone. It’s so obvious.
