Wow, thanks a lot for the overwhelming response!

Thank you for the links provided and the suggestions, I'll check all of them.
I believe there is some internal joke about hanging out with @hank williams, but I want my mind fresh to experience the weekend and use it for the article :)

I'll definitely try to contact the Supporters Association or any branches (I believe there is one in London). And contacting the Wise Men Say guys and the rest sounds like a really good idea.

Sorry for the "reach me out" thing. English is obviously not my mother tongue, so some words might sound strange. But don't worry, I'll rely on a proofreader for the English version of the article.

If someone feels like meeting in person when I am in Sunderland, or helping me outside this thread, my email address is luisfer at lisella eu.

Again, thanks a lot! Now, let's smash Coventry City!

Buena suerte!
Your English is a lot better than our Spanish AND English.

Hasta la vista! Baby.

Good article but Sunderland hasn’t been part of County Durham since the 70s has it?
Sunderland has always been in County Durham.

Also, there is a Sunderland fan from Barcelona who would be perfect for you to interview. He has supported us for a long time and only supports Sunderland despite being born in Catalonia! I can’t remember his name but I’m sure someone on here can help you (he raised a lot of money for Bradley Lowery by riding a bike to a game vs Leicester from his home in Barcelona in 2014!)

It might also be nice to speak to the club themselves, they are very open now and I am sure would be happy to co operate if you send them an email!

Also finally, we led, and are still leading the world, in getting autistic fans (especially children) a safe space to watch the match.

I think the campaign is brilliant, it’s led by @The Innovator and maybe could be worth a mention in your article? or indeed a new article - maybe it’s something Spanish clubs could copy?

Hello there!

Keeping my word, I will be this weekend in Sunderland and the Stadium of Light, to experience myself everything I need for the article, and see them smashing Southend Utd.

Thanks again for all the links, insights and help overall! I collected everything, and I am sure something nice will come out of all this.

If someone feels like meeting / sharing impressions, please do get in touch with me over my email luisfer at lisella dot eu, or sending me a pm over here.

So far I have arranged an interview with Rob Mason, probably you all know him, to get insights about the history of the club and a better understanding about how come SAFC has such a strong football love behind.

If you feel like helping me out with telling me any fan I should get in touch with, any recommendations to experience properly being a Mackem for a day, or just want to grab a beer during my visit, please do reach me out.

Many thanks!
Thanks for the warning.

It's going to be cold!

Hello there,

(apologies in advance if this is not the right place for this issue, and please forward me to the thread/area where I could write about this)

my name is Luis and I am a Spaniard living in London. While I have a day job in software dev, I write articles as a side project.

I've contacted the well-known Spanish printed magazine 'Panenka', that focuses on the emotional side of football, to write an article about SAFC. I also plan to release it online in English.
I have been interested in the club for years, and I will try to make justice to the impressive supporters community that doesn't fail, weekend after weekend, to support the team with a really high average attendance in the Stadium of Light, even in the hardest moments.

I'll spend a weekend in the city, attend a match (the Blackpool one is a little tight, probably the one with Southend, to give myself time to prepare the article) and see by myself what's going on in there.

Go to an away game like Walsall to get the best idea, I'll help you with a ticket.

That's actually a very good idea that I considered already.

What's the next away match against a club from London or nearby?

You should tweet Stewart Donald. He might sort you out with something seeing as it's leading to an article about the club.

One of the greatest days of all time, Cup Final Eve in Covent Garden
Awesome

It was indeed mate. I dunno if it was our siege mentality that had built up for years with our flirtations with relegation, the gus bus journey, the long time since last visit to Wembley or all of the above. But that night to me will be remembered forever.

If only Borini slotted that chance to make it 2-0 instead of letting company back to make last ditch challenge.

Not sure if would welcome this but if you're talking about the club ( as an entity) how it has emotionally connected to the fans you might want see if @Speedy1976 ... is up for an interview. I'm sure he might be able to give an insight into our club its fans; and football fans generally, that many of use cant.

Soz @Speedy1976 for mentioning you ; if your not up for this fella
