At what point do you think he will start to come out and attack teams ? As you say Palace is a difficult game away from home so does he frustrate or go for it. Lose that and then lose to Man Utd and you really are in the clartsI am not confident of anything at Palace and then it makes the Leicester game huge. Mess that one up and its man united away. Could be in a situation where we have one point after 8 games. Will have to play like a team capable of getting 50 points just to survive, like Palace last season. They've got better players than us though, but I think Benitez is probably good enough to keep the squad up.

I think the crux of the matter is a stand off between Ashley and Benitez. Ashley is wanting Benitez to commit but Benitez won’t without assurances. Mark my words, Ashley ‘ain’t stupid and will use that fact to his advantageBenitez doesn't want Ashley to give him the money the supporters are demanding ..... that's my honest opinion.
If Ashley gave him the money he'd then be expected to finish higher than tenth.
His transfer activity has been erratic and it's very easy to blow £50 million or whatever, he's done that before.
He'd also be expected to commit to a new contract, something I don't believe he wants to do.
He's just playing the martyr, lining up his excuses if he takes Newcastle down again and biding his time until he can walk.

So him staying in 2016 was nowt to do with being one of the highest paid managers in europe?I think Benitez wants out and Ashley wants rid. The contract ending in the summer is convenient for both.
I think one of the reasons Benitez agreed to stay on in 2016 was that certain promises were made and not delivered.
From Ashley's point of view he's got a manager who is causing him nowt but bother. Unless the club is sold before the summer (very unlikely) then it'll be Benitez leaving and probably end up with somebody like Ian Holloway

4 minion a year isn’t bad for a Championship Manager. He was also able to assemble a team on the biggest budget ever seen in the Championship (including wages) there has ever been.Did you not see the bit that said "one of the reasons"?

despicable wage![]()
I thought it was £6m a year. There's a flaw in your logic because if he is only doing it for the money, and he could've signed a new contract with improved terms, why didn't he do that? The wages aren't the only factor here as much as you'd like it to be.
Also, Aston Villa spent more than Newcastle that season.
Aye but you were in that league with players like shelvey who had already cost you £15m, no one's squad value was even close to yours.

not according to the radio I had the misfortune of hearing. Stale, dull, uncompetitive, boring were some of the words used to describe both sides iirc. And Cardiff had a go.
They'll sit in against Palace to stop Zaha getting behind them. They're possibly the worst side in the league to watch as a neutral.
He's a good player but hes a victim of his own actions, all that diving about is biting him on the arse now. Saying that the tackle on him by Capoue was patheticFollowing Zaha's interview I think whoever tackles him will be booked straight away. He'll probably run the show on Saturday and they'll beat us.
