Racist away fans (again)

‘He would have controlled it if it was a banana.’

I know it is a minority and many fans told this fella to fuck off but the racist undertones to the treatment of Maja is very sad.

I love Sunderland but our away following embarrasses itself time after time.
Many fans told this fella to fuck off
No one gives two fucks man other than the hyper sensitive lefties.

No one cares man you f***ing soft as shite imbecile. If you are that offended I suggest you stop going to the match.
Most civilised people do care. I think most civilised people cared in 1970s.

I'll ask again. Did anyone report this to a copper or steward or is it one of those "i saw and heard it but i'll say nowt until i get home and post it on the internet instead"???
I wouldn't report it. What would be the point?

You may know him as one of:

My Boy Harry
The Balanced View
Buchanans Boots

I assume he changes username as he keeps getting banned?

There is a certain irony that he fails to see in using names such as the 'the balanced view' and 'the voice of reason'. I mean just how up yourself do you have to be to consider your singular personal view as 'balanced' or your particular personal views to 'reasoned'? I would argue those terms could only be accorded by someone other than yourself.

He thinks we should be forcibly evicting foreigners from the country and often turns up on threads like this acting as an apologist for the alleged racist and having a go at the poster who called it in the first place instead.

For what its worth, I have kept off this thread today, as stayed over in Derby after the game yesterday and have been travelling back then doing some work round the house. I have twice reported racist comments at Sunderland games myself, once at Fratton Park and more recently last year at the SOL. On neither occasion did the police take the blindest bit of interest and on both occasions the culprits not only got away with it, but the culprit at Fratton park was permitted to continue the offences in the second half.

The request for 'evidence' and video footage is quite frankly pathetic. Who goes to a football game and films their own fans on the off chance they turn out to be a racist idiot, just so you can then back up your statement of what you heard on a message board? To be frank, this is just stalling tactics and trying to turn the issue on its head and blame the whistle blower. Even if you doubt the incident occurred surely the base human reaction would be to condemn the sentiment in the statement? At least that would be the base reaction if you are not a racist.

You can argue all you like whether this happened or it didn't. I was at the game alongside 1800 other Sunderland fans and I encountered nothing but good humour before, during and after the game, but if the OP says he heard the comment, who am I to say he didn't? Having been in the situation myself before I can't see what he has to gain my making something like that up?

It comes to something when someone reporting this stuff is not only not believed but actively ridiculed and hounded as a liar by people who were not even there. We have made a lot of progress on racism and other diversity issues but sadly there is a still an awful long way to go as this thread proves.

Edited

Nowt to do with me

Read page 40.

You're being mistaken for MBH.

Cheers ;)

Sorry if I have got that one wrong (particularly to the Voice of reason).

At the risk of a banning, Its still a bloody pretentious username in my option though (and maybe why I linked the two mistakenly!!:))

MBH (and his alter egos), posts some excellent history related stuff about the club and I share his interest in that and I just wish he would do more of that and leave the politics alone. He probably says the same about me though;).

You are on thin ice lad .......;)

The Voice of Reason. Yes i've come across that moron a few times. I think I have him on my ignored list now after a few run-ins.

As are you ...

Tempting to go there and play - but I'd be banned in minutes, probably. Having a Marxist philosopher for a son is certainly keeping me on my toes, and I seem to be drifting leftwards on a daily basis.

You’d fit in well on the politics board then.

Once people got the defensive bollocks out the way, this thread has been positive. Sometimes we all need reassurance - particularly in these times when its sadly not a given - that the majority of people see racism as wrong and understand that monkey/banana comments fall into that category if they're aimed at black players.

Maybe this gives more people confidence to report someone, or confront them knowing people likely feel as uncomfortable with it. Being with away fans is always different for people. The sense that everyone else knows each other, and that a long trip home with an angry racist and his mates might be the end result of a good deed may understandably stop anyone piping up. It's heartening to think that might be wrong.

I think The Voice of Reason is an excellent name for a mod...pretty funny in that context...a bit like some of Iain Banks' Culture ship names..

The Balanced View on the other hand sounds like a program that is exactly the opposite of what it claims to be on Fox News in the States.

Tell you what to do. Ask the OP why he didnt report it to the police or the stewards?

He clearly isnt bothered about it enough to say anything at the match, yet, all brave like, he tells everyone on here hours after the match finishes. Thats no f***ing good.

He clearly doesnt think its that much of an issue or he is soft as shite and terrified to say something. Which is it?

Call the soft fucker out about why he never said anything at the time.
Some people can’t just go around confronting people at football matches because of racist comments. If I was to confront someone and it kicked off and said person started on me and we had a fight and then arrested by the police. I for one cant have a criminal record to do my job and get checked every 6 month so it’s gonna like class to have a violence charge or even a caution on my record... so now I have no job no house for my wife and kids......I’m I soft as shite nor just a lot more intelligent than you.. prick

If only we were all rock hard like MBH,on and off the keyboard. He likes to tell us tales of all the trouble he witnessed in the 70's and 80's,from a distance of safety.

On the buses back from Boro last season I heard the most racist stuff you could think of. However it's not widespread and seems to come from pissed and coked up teenagers who think they are just on some massive bender for the day. The actual match is secondary.

Nearly 28,000 views on this thread.

One knuckle dragging simpleton at the match and 2 fucktards on this thread can do a lot a damage to the clubs reputation.

I;d say that 95% of what's on this thread more than negates that. It's blindingly obvious from the way they've been called out is that they're a tiny and pitied, if not despised, minority. I doubt there's any football club in the country that hasn't got a few of these idiots lurking within their support; some will probably have a lot more than us from a far lower support base.
