Captaincy at Durham for 2019

i wonder what the plans are for the captaincy of the club for next season as both championship and one day captains will probably not be here next season. i can see them splitting it again and having a championship skipper and a different one day leader.
I read on here that the new CEO said we where £60,000 within our playing budget for next season I wonder if that was taking in account the saving they would make on Collys salary.
Nobody really stands out among the current squad, Lees did a bit a Yorkshire but Iam sure he will just want to concentrate on his batting and probably likewise Steele.

There's certainly not an obvious replacement on the staff. Lees and Steel both have the potential but I don't think opening bats should be burdened with captaincy unless they're very experienced. Rushworth has the necessary experience but again you don't want to burden your main strike bowler with other distractions. Smith and Richardson have the necessary experience but aren't guaranteed their place. Nor will Colly be lurking to offer advice as he was frequently this season by Latham. Big dilemma for the head coach.
 
Another would be Smith … but again he would be in the Lees and Steel category, wanting or needing to concentrate on his batting.

We would go left-field and pick a bowler - Rushy for instance. But has he ever done any captaining?

It can only be Steel of Rushy for the championship team, no one else is guaranteed a place.
 
Unless the stuff about Rocky being unsettled is true …. and a captaincy would sort a move …. but what a batting line up we'll have then!

I'll spell it out. I assumed you meant it the other way round -after all Steel isn't normally selected for white ball cricket. Durham normally get things the wrong way round hence your original suggestion would probably be correct.

Having said that I'd have him back in a flash.

I’d echo the sentiments about Steel and Lees though - I’d rather see them concentrate on batting. Mind I reckon Steel might be 3 next year if Lees and Bancroft open.

Id compromise on lees & Bancroft (or rocky!) opening, move steel to 3 and have him captain red ball and give will smith a role as whiteball captain, middle order useful bowler

There's also Poynter! He's a active type, maybe the type of personality you'd want as a skipper.
