SMB Tennis thread (note there is a specific Wimbledon 22 thread)

Matches finished around 2.30am. Bit disappointing overall - first set of Nadal - Delpo was very good even with the early injury scare but then obviously quickly deteriorated. Felt sorry for Nadal, that's 2 slams this year where he has been injured in the latter stages.

Nishikori played quite well but not enough and was reasonably comfortable for Djok.

Shame for Nadal, said it before but he would easily have won 20+ slams if it wasn’t for injuries.
But wouldn't that be down to his style of play and long rallies taking their toll on the body.
If he didn't fight for every point (and he truly is the greatest fighter in tennis history) he may not have won the 17 slams. It's a trade off between his style and what his body can take. Hes managed his knee much better the last 5 years than the early part of his career.
It might be worth him giving up the outdoor hard court season and just playing the US open and atp finals (when he qualifies) to extend his career.

Hope delpo does the business tomorrow

Serena calling the official a thief.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

"It's not fair."
Boo hoo, keep your trap shut then.

Well done to Naomi Osaka.

Williams though.

“You will never, ever, ever be on another court of mine as long as you live. You are the liar. When are you going to give me my apology? You owe me an apology. Say it. Say you’re sorry. ... And you stole a point from me. You’re a thief, too!”

Zip it, have a game penalty.

Should be a big ban coming her way.

What happened

The most drama I have seen for a while.

Serena's coach was doing hand gestures trying to move her up the court, which isn't allowed in the slams. Wasn't really SWs fault but still not allowed. Serena given a warning and then kicked off. She them slammed her racket later and was given a point penalty. She then called the umpire a thief and promptly lost a full game and it was all kicking off. Supervisors and all sorts, fans jeering. Naomi served it out but the win has been completely overshadowed.
