Buttler - fair enough, has done well - but still disagree with the selection
You drunk? He's our top run scorer.
I'd persevere with him as wicket keeper, Bairstow number 5.

Because the ECB are fuckwits.Just been looking at a couple of stats.
Why isn't Jack Leach being picked? Just looking at 1st class matches with 5 wicket hauls he has more than Rushy on a per match basis. That's a spinner being a bigger wicket taken than one of the best County FM bowler for the past few years.
He also out performs Adil Rashid too and at a far better runs per wicket.
When all was weighed up, would I have selected him? Not a chance. You drunk? He's our top run scorer.

As are the selectors.

But, Smith has pulled a rabbit out of his arse and got lucky - its worked.

Simply put - a lack of red ball cricket, an embarrassment of riches in the lower middle order where he bats, Bairstow with the gloves and Buttlers natural attacking instincts made him unselectable for me. (regarding the lack of red ball, I know I've said I agree with Rashid - I know I said I agreed with his selection, but that's only because of a lack of quality spin in England - something that isn't the case with lower order sloggers. Why not a chance, before he was picked he was in outstanding form, (yes in another format).
He is a extremely talented cricketer and a big game player, that is clear as day.
Yes it was fair enough his red ball average in the championship was a reason for not picking him, but why not a chance for such a talent!
Smith saw that and made a brave decision and should be appaulded for it full stop, anyone can pick a team based on stats and averages, it’s harder backing your judgement and going for it and he has been proved right.
The concern for Leach is that the wickets at Taunton have been soo heavily in favour of spin, it’s hard to know how big a factor that has been in them stats, woukd be interesting to know them away from Taunton.

Agree with your points on Leech.
Yeah, that's fair enough mate - I can definitely see the reasons folk wanted him selected, even if I don't share the opinion.Buttler imo is one of the most talented crickerters in England and also seems to have the menality and composure to perform under pressure and in big game situations.
That is always why I would find a place for that type in the side, he should keep instead of Bairstow imo
Ya. The same has been (unjustly) said of Rushy too of course. But …… pitches abroad are big turners too .e.g. Sri Lanka and Bangla, if this stats are down to the Taunton Beach then the minimum we know is that he's a big wicket taker on turning pitches …. good to know for playing on turning pitches. The concern for Leach is that the wickets at Taunton have been soo heavily in favour of spin, it’s hard to know how big a factor that has been in them stats, woukd be interesting to know them away from Taunton.

The other thing is that he's a left armer bowler - a good variation to have in the squad even if Modern is your first choice.
Because Leech can only take wickets on doctored pitches. The biggest disgrace in english cricket IMO is Rashid getting picked over Leach, who is a miles better bowler
Rashid is not good enough at this level and I have absolutely no idea why he is playing.
Because Leech can only take wickets on doctored pitches.
Furthermore, he didn't really look a major threat in his limited time in international cricket - Rashid can produce moments of brilliance.
I like Leach but he has only taken 5 wickets away from Taunton this season.Erm he’s Took a shit load on grounds all around the country
Rashid is shocking at this level

Rashid has got out far better players than Leech. He’s missed most the season, last year??
How many has Rashid took by the way?
Last year at Taunton 35 wkts @ 22 Away 16 wkts @ 33He’s missed most the season, last year??

As I said elsewhere, stick me on a Ciderabad bitch, and I'd take a hatful.
