So then, the final chapter of another eventful summer. Five games to go, all of them proper cricket.

Temperatures this week will drop into the low teens, a definite autumnal chill is in the air and this match will be the last that starts at 11:00.

After probably the performance of the season to thrash Glamorgan, we go into another game against a side struggling for red ball success - a win will have the promotion hopefuls just looking over the shoulders and a strong finish to the season would give us hope of a realistic assault on promotion next year.

Expect the side to be the same as last week pending good health, although I expect Rimmington will return to the fore at some point before the season is out.

Congratulations to FTECB summer bank holiday and only two T20 games scheduled ,wait till every fecker is back at work then a full fixture list, brilliant!!!

The forecast looks to be OK for the next few days although tbh that counts for nothing.
On Friday night it looked as if the wicket is going to be closer to the Trapdoor which no doubt will be closed.

Mind you I will really miss Kiss Cam and Sweet Caroline.

Aye and the Northants game this week is the only one with a days play scheduled on a weekend. And that’s only the 4 th day. Remaining other 4 fixtures are all Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday. Can’t see why 2 days in all of these last 5 fixtures doesnt include Saturday and Sunday.

Other than the T20 finals day, weekends are clear.

Nice strong end to the season with the red ball would be very welcome :)

As ever on a cloudy day.

So Smith misses out! Well ok, he hasn't stood out and with Patel the team doesn't need his occasional spin. Gareth Harte is the choice I perhaps would't have made, fair enough, maybe game time would help him to add to his previous century. I wouldn't have picked him but it was close for me, so I wouldn't argue the toss.
