Anyway - just a general question.

Is there an offence called "making a back" or "not jumping" ? Free kicks often awarded for it. Seems to me that if a player just stands and doesn't jump for a ball, the player mounting him from behind gets a free kick.

I've never understood it.

Didn’t it used to be no foul, it’s just standing your ground.

I'm not sure. There was a free kick given in the scum today for it. Didn't see it just heard it on radio. Anderson said it was for making a back as the bloke hadn't made an attempt for the ball

Another footballing mystery imo, like 'protecting' the ball while not in control of it is imo obstruction (Benno was the master of this!)

Listening on Radio Ncl.

John Anderson: Craig Pawson is just a bad referee. He had it in for us at Man U last year and he's carrying on here.:rolleyes:

The refs just divvent understand us ya nar :lol:
I'm guessing Anderson missed the incident where Kenedy just stood up right in front of the referee, and booted somebody in the shins, off the ball? :)

You can stand your ground but if you back in as the player behind is jumping its a foul
