That's a poor decision. I can understand wanting Stokes in with his bowling record at Trent Bridge but Curran has done nothing wrong.

I think it sends out a canny shite message to the other lads in the team who have come into the side and grabbed their chance with both hands.

Stokes is a superb cricketer, truly fantastic. But I don’t agree with him walking back into the side, it sends out a shit message to everyone else.

Completely understand why people will say he must be in the team, can see that totally. But for me personally, I think it would have been good to leave him out for this test. Give him a chance to clear his head, and also send out a message to all players that you don’t just walk back into the side.

Incredibly harsh on Curran, as it would have been on any player suggested to miss out
 
Would’ve rested Broad or Anderson to be honest. Series is pretty much wrapped up already, no need for them to be playing all five matches at their ages.

He won England a test match on the final morning literally 2 tests ago

He’s a better player than Curran

It’s international sport

We’ve lost and wasted too many games trying to be “fair”. I’m honestly not remotely interested in being fair

Being fair is why we had Woakes and Ali in our attack in Australia

If we never lose that attitude we will always lose as much as we win

Curran will be back, in this series probably

No big deal

Woakes room his place, not stokes

Butler never even deserved a call up. Had barely played first class cricket and his average is average
 
No problem with the decision, he's guilty of no crime and is the best player in the country. It's harsh on Curran but he's young and his time will come.

Against pakistan who are one of the lowest ranked test teams. The point is moot anyway. He is vice captain (somehow, i guess lack of experience and choice) so unlikely to be dropped
