Absolute legend. Came crashing into the side in 2003 in Australia and once he stopped the ECB trying to fuck with his action he never looked back. Really came of age during the 2009 Ashes

Looking ahead, Jimmy loves it, would play every day if he could so no problem with attitude or motivation. I would suggest not taking him to the subcontinent to prolong his international career for at least another 2 years.

McGrath was 565 wickets at an average of 21. I would say he was better than Jimmy. But this is not taking anything away from him, he seems to be getting better with age. I never thought I’d see anyone go past Botham’s 379, but he’s raced away. Even Broad is approaching it now.edit gone passed it now.

McGrath was immense to be fair. Didn't swing or seam it either, just stuck it on length

Jimmy's not finished yet so he could go past IMO the best ever English seamers (Fred Trueman and SF Barnes).

About 3 years ago he was averaging 30. Quite remarkable.

fair enough - the main difference was McGrath did it from test one. The first quarter of Jimmy's test career was stop start and he averaged 35 before a tour of the WI many years ago. From that time onwards his average has been McGrath like.

Only Malcolm Marshall and Akram I can think of who I’d put above him in terms of swing bowlers.
A genuine great of the game.

I wouldn't argue with that but he is in that bracket.
