Because it’s far enough away from Sunderland for them not to get hassled by SAFC fans. I would never stop at a hotel looking into my place of work either, hence not staying at the hotel at the SOL.

I stayed there a few months ago and the lass in the Exec Lounge said that Dick stayed there, as did the FSW until he got a place, so I assume both clubs get decent rates there. For long term stays

That makes a lot of sense!

You reckon he’ll start? He’s only been here for a few days so I won’t be surprised to see him on the bench.
Possibly. may depend if McGeogh is fir I guess. From what I have seen of this lad too I think the centre of midfield is going to be strong. With the young lads there is a lot of energy in the team.

I have seen a few Sunderland players there down through the years. I had a chat with Michael Turner there when he played for us.

That's a cracking read.

I'd honestly not realised how much I've fallen out of love with football over the last few years until the takeover. Sure it's great to watch brilliant footballers play for other teams and admire them, and I can do that. But it's not 'real' for me because for me football is an emotional thing too, and my team appears to have not given a shit about SAFC for years - I think I've been so numb to my team and players that I've had an emotional disconnect with the club for years now.

Except for the odd consumate professionals like Defoe who also loved being here, it's been a long time since I looked at our team with any kind of belief they represented us / me or with any connection or excitement.

Now I read stuff like this and my partner starts laughing and says things like "look at you, you're sitting there not realising you're grinning like an idiot, lost in a screen, you look like a little kid".

It's awful it's taken the last four or five seasons to start a process of healing, but I've been sitting here reading that grinning like an idiot again.

:D
Cracking post mate

Remember when we hated every single one of our players over the last two seasons, not a single player the kids and younger generation could look up to and get their name on the back of their shirts. Now we have players like Luke O'Nien leading by example, exciting the younger fans with their eagerness to play the game the right way.

This is a massive change of culture, we have players who care and who the fans can respond to - haven't had that since Defoe left.

Well the airshow was on the Sunday he turned up, can't see there being many spare hotel rooms in Sunderland ?
He could have kipped on Hank's cree roof. Hotels indeed! Soft as clarts. What's the world coming to man?

I hope he gets a game tomorrow, above all the others this lad has captured my imagination. I can’t tell you how many years it’s been since this was the case.
Likewise. This lad, McGeouch & Wyke are the Three Musketeers I'm really looking forward to seeing, fitness permitting. All for one & one for all!

Hopefully this attitude helps him push on in his career (with us obvs) and he ends up better than Evans who we tried to sign beforehand just like when we ended up with Phillips when we tried to sign Connelly before him

He sounds like the kind of person that is going to give his all to get as high up in the game as he can, in my opinion that's all we can ask and I think every club needs players like this and I wish him all the best
