Bowling Machines

Anyone own one? Batting has been all over the place this season, considering buying a bowling machine for the garden to work on improving it over the winter. Wondering if you get anything decent for less than £400, very little online by way of reviews. I’d like one that get up to 70mph, ideally simulate spin too. Looking on eBay at the Stinger and Paceman products. A Bola would be lovely but too pricey!

Don't know anything about it but do you know any mates who'd be interested in clubbing together to make it more affordable?

The club already has a Bola junior, don't want to hog it to myself though. If I thought I could get something decent enough for <£400 I'd get my own. Certainly don't want to spend that amount on something that turns out to be rubbish though!

Not sure where your based but in the winter we normally just book a lane down the riverside a couple of times a month, costs about £30 per hour for a lane with a bowling machine.

I’m not NE based mate, nearest indoor nets are an hour away, we’ve discussed doing some winter nets - feel like my batting needs extensive work though, be ideal if I could get something set up in the garden, have 15 yds down side of house that could be a decent little practice area.

Sure we’ve got a paceman. Never used it personally myself but been told you have to have it less than 22 yards away to get it feeling fast.

It's not great in terms of getting the real feeling of a proper ball being bowled, ball movement isn't the same either and the ball actually gets a lot slower as it comes towards you. It's ok for a bit of fun but not to really work on areas of your game. Unfortuantly you need a Bola machine if you want a decent experience where you can work on your game.
