Talking to aWycombe fan on holiday here, absolutely gutted he's going. Said, We were looking forward to the new season and we are about to sell their best player. Reckons he pulled all the strings for them.
Hopefully that will be two class midfield players with McGuegh(sp).
True mate. In the same way when LFC and EFC came calling for our Jordan's. Hopefully one day we will be in a position to tell them no.The Interview from Ainsworth epitomises the “way it is” down the lower leagues and the pecking order that determines the destiny of players.
You simply have to let your talent go to survive and that is reality.
It is difficult to explain to your kids as to why the best players leave your club however it’s the food chain as I call it with my club not towards the top.
Replacing this is the respect you get from other fans. Not all but mainly those who actually go and who get it. I refer to the bigger clubs who basically can sign who they want. Sunderland May have temporarily fallen from grace but with 21,000 plus season tickets they simply don’t belong down here. The promising players will be attracted to Sunderland and why wouldn’t they.
I refer to respect and in my travels up and down the Country my kids have met some cracking fans of the bigger clubs. The respect shown as they actually support their club is lifting.i know the vast majority of your fans are superb as are your nearest and dearest. They get the loyalty with football which commands respect.
From Adams Park to the SOL that young lad deserves the move, a reward no doubt for the dedication. This is the type of players you should go for and appear to be doing so. There has been some depressing Saturday nights on here and reckon this season it will change. Always said you needed to bottom out and I reckon it’s one way back up now.
The worry was how far down we would fall until we bottomed out. If Short hadn’t sold up I m sure it would have been worse than where we are now. The reset button has been pushed just in time. Onwards and upwards with a young side with some goals in it.The Interview from Ainsworth epitomises the “way it is” down the lower leagues and the pecking order that determines the destiny of players.

Not patronising in any way but “you” (not you personally) don’t realise how big the club you follow really are. This season will be a much needed reality check particularly to the lucky ones who manage to get tickets for the away adventures.
Sure always piss taking chanting about garden sheds, small crowds etc but I hope some respect is given to the clubs you are playing (except the lot from the 3 sided triangle). For every big club with thousands of loyal fans are the smaller ones with a hard core up there with the best.
Clubs like Accrington and Fleetwood are going to be blown away when they visit the SOL Some of their fans have come up through the non leagues and a trip to Sunderland will be an unbelievable experience for them which they rightly deserve. This is why I love football and not the Armchair PL motd football.
Yesterday went to a Swindon to pick up the shirts and season tickets and a little kid walked across the pedestrian crossing yards from the ground in a Man City top.
Told my kids exactly what I thought without the swearing
Little one got it and immediately said I bet he has never watched City live in his life...........
Were you never young and daft? I'm nearly 60 and a couple of years ago soaked everyone within 5 yards of me in tonic when AJ scored. It was great. That chant is a complete embarrassment. Just sung by young uns, the type that throw beer in the concourses. f***ing hate it

You know why don't you, because they cant drink.Yes I was. Im old and boring now!
But The garden shed chant... honestly makes me cringe
Dont mind spontaneous soakings either,, but not pre meditated just for hell of it, like the knackers do nowadays!
The one I met today was crabbing down Weymouth.I didn't realise there were so many Wycombe fans across the globe.
I've never ever met one and I've worked all over the country

Tonic. A touch of much needed class on the forum. Were you never young and daft? I'm nearly 60 and a couple of years ago soaked everyone within 5 yards of me in tonic when AJ scored. It was great.
Unfortunately it was his annual day off,so everyone remained quite damp, maybe for a week or two,but it was well worth it.Tonic. A touch of much needed class on the forum.
Did you get your butler to wipe it up?
Friendly Wycombe fan here. Would like to echo some of the other comments about O'Nien from our fans. He is an exceptional player, and I can't really find a weakness in his game. I've seen him described as a Duracell Bunny, an 8 year old high on Pepsi, and an overexcited puppy. You get the idea though - he never stops running. 09 is mainly defensive - quite different to Tim Cahill - and will never ever shy from a tackle. Throws blocks at everything too, and loves challenging for headers. He's also very skillful with two feet and great control - see the keepy-up videos for evidence. Scores some cracking goals too, often by arriving late into the box (Lampard style), and gets a few assists. He even started taking some free kicks and corners towards the end of last season (better than our normal taker too!)
Although his playing attributes are very impressive, he's perhaps most valuable at the game management side of football. Wins soft free kicks, time-wastes for fun, winds up opposition players, puts in niggly late tackles, and is always taking the piss. He gives away necessary fouls, subtly grabs on shirts, and gets away with a lot. It's quite amazing to watch him sometimes because he's such a snidy shithouse of a player. Horrible to play against.
I have a feeling he also contributed immensely to the team spirit too. He's got such a bubbly personality - undoubtedly the team joker - and appears to be loved by everyone. You get the feeling that he and Akinfenwa ran the dressing room - they were great mates, as shown by their extensive celebration repertoire. Always has loads of time for the fans too. He took our fan drum when we got promoted at Chesterfield and played his own song (and many others) - an iconic moment.
Also, thanks for your kind comments about our club. I've always had quite a soft spot for you guys too (as someone who follows Everton on the side), but I have a feeling that you won't be this positive about us after playing us this season. Most of L1 and L2 detest Wycombe and Ainsworth for mastering the "Dark Arts" - although O'Nien was probably the chief contributor to that. We are very well known for our blatant gamesmanship! I do think we are coming across well because everyone can see that Sunderland are a far bigger club - you have 10x more season ticket holders and will cruise it this season.
