The amount of Mackems with in depth knowledge of our accounts crack me up. Wonder if they know how much the bar takes on a home game?

it would not be particularly difficult to find out or even estimate. We did about £5m in catering in the Prem (in the accounts). Assume roughly 75:25 split corporate and punters. Roughly £50k or a £1 ish a head -sounds about right. Or in reality 10,000 people spend a £5.

Thats safc not nufc

I've seen £29m when we were relegated in 2009 and £15m in the last published accounts. There might be one more but is there anything beyond that which he has put in?

'Ludicrous offer' would be to have a clean break from the club. I'd be amazed if he didn't want to hold onto all commercial dealings (SD advertising remains in the stadium for a fixed length of time/Sports Direct retains control of the NUFC club shop and web fulfilment) for a sale of £350m like you suggest. It's the complete clean break that would take a 'ludicrous offer'

I'll take all of the Staveley stuff with a pinch of salt tbf as I think you're playing to the gallery a bit dispelling it so much considering where you are.

Your figures are a bit off in your bathroom analogy too as no-one is expecting Ashley to put in £175m this summer like the logical extrapolation based on your sell price suggests.

you had about £50m of debt (mostly with natwest) run up under Hall/Shepherd. He paid that off pretty much day 1. In fairness we quickly went into the credit crunch and banking meltdown. that could of been a big problem for you

Barclays iirc.

The Staveley thing is real - i've heard it from both sides of the deal . £325m with lots of warranties over player values and tax case (total £50m) and 40% money back on relegation in year 1, 30% year 2 and 20% year 3. That is ignoring the overall problem that she never produced 'proof of funds'. She tried to get around 'proof of funds' with some big names but they publically disowned it (dont take my word it was was covered in the financial press) eg

External debt was 76m in 2007

Ashley transferred 100m debt in 2008.
Extra 11m in 2009
Extra 29m in 2010
Took back 11m in 2012
Extra 15m in 2017
To give 144m now

They are not well poised. Every player everton sign has been passed over by the big 6. Everton have revenues of £200m all the others are £400- £600m. Everton do not have a CL squad. Elite players dont sign for everton. When they get an elite player - they leave eg Lukaku.

There is no material incremental money in 5th or 6th or 7th - you qualify for Europa League and then player your reserves. Of the teams you mentioned they have all had at least one season since looking over their shoulders with a mini threat of relegation.

I think the problem is football is f****d at the top level. Man United bond prospectus called it the 'polarisation' of revenues. You really need a billion £ investment to break into it a la chelsea and city. MA knows he doesnt have a billion £ to invest so knows hes in a league of 14.

Great post mate, saved me a lot of time typing and you are absolutely spot on with your assessment of the whole situation, football is sadly fucked for most fans, saying that I am just glad that after many years of hard work and prodigious planning my club have managed to secure the last place on the gravy train.

Fact is even traditionally big clubs like Everton, Aston Villa, Newcastle United Sunderland, will find it incredibly difficult to break the hold of the so called big six, take Everton as an example, they simply can’t compete regarding finances taking into account gate receipts commercial deals sponsorships etc. and even with a new stadium they won’t generate that much more money than they currently do, all of those clubs would need to add at least £220m a year to their revenues to reach top six levels and that simply isn’t happening any time soon.

I gey my news right here.

Even found out we have incoming via here

There record transfer fee is £17m for Micheal Owen still. Huddersfield have spent £17.5m on a player this year, I can see why they’re fans are a little frustrated.

Ridiculous....

A mere town spending £17.5 million when wor entire Nayshun has only spent £17 million ( on someone who was injured more than he played )

I think you are not cemented in the top 6 yet but you have a chance . Great stewardship by levy - held firm on the payroll , new stadium at perfect time - plus riding the wave of the slightly lucky break of a few hundred mill of talent coming through academy at same time

Why are we so obsessed with mag threads?...do they run as many as we do about us on their forums?
Every mag thread seems to create hundreds of posts ..more than most about our team...bizzare

There has only ever been one payment made on reducing the debt of £12m 6 or 7 years ago. I believe it was after the Carroll sale. He hasn't taken any other payment on it, and has since then increased it.
Before he arrived the debt was £75m. Now it's around £140m.
All revenue streams have went down under Ashley, the only income that has increased in the 11 years since he's been here is television revenue, which has no part in.

Following relegation in 2009, Barclays took ownership of the ground and training facilities as collateral on the debt owed to them by NUFC, then issued a mortgage on them. A few months later, Ashley paid the mortgage off to regain ownership and settled the debt with the bank, hence the debt doubling after a drop in PL income for one season.
The interest on Ashley's loan is estimated to be £8m per year.
The advertising space in SJP is estimated to be worth £8m per year.
Ashley doesn't charge interest but takes all the advertising space to benefit his other companies, with the PL being shown in 200 countries around the world, Sports Direct enjoys a lot of exposure globally every fortnight, and at least 6 times a season when the big boys come to play here.

It's a marriage of convenience for Ashley and having that debt puts off any buyers unless they come up with a huge offer.
The club is costing him nothing other than a load of abuse.

Exactly!!! WHY would he sell it when his other business' are booming??:lol: It's great business

Maybe I overestimated your football related knowledge you are also contradicting your own argument with the Newcastle fans, please give me your definition of being “cemented in the top Six” then, or are you simply trolling, Spurs have consistently been in the top Six for longer than Manchester City have, Spurs have finished above Liverpool in 8 out of the last 9 seasons and above all of the other clubs several times in recent years, why don’t you let us all know with your wisdom just how many times Spurs have finished outside of the top Six over the last ten years.

Oh and producing academy players isn’t simply down to luck as you wrongly suggest, great coaching might just help and check out Spurs training facilities the ones that England use before their home games the same with Brazil who used them as their training camp for the World Cup, the ones that AC Milan, Barcelona, and other top European clubs have asked to use when they play CL games in London.

As I said on here a couple of years ago after arguing with the experts on here, Spurs will easily be in the top 10 regarding annual income of World football and that is now the case, so who are these other clubs in the Premier League that are suddenly going to gain an extra £200/300m a year to challenge the top Six then.

Just out of interest, how many of your young players who have made it, were bought from other clubs, as against players you have brought through your system?
