MP takes on Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley over his 'exploitation' of the club

Absolutely not that at all. Sure, all fans dream of that. But being realistic, trying to just improve on the previous season or be as good as you can. A bit of ambition.
As i said earlier and you agreed, a few tweaks. Just to try and do well and improve on the previous year,if you fail so be it, but better to try.
Not wanting to be pulling out £100m on transfer fees, just being able to compete in the transfer market with the likes of Bournemouth would be a start.
Just accepting that today's prices are bigger than they were several years ago and to protect the tv income and the free advertising, you've gotta speculate to accumulate
So that merits the bile, anger and pathetic tweets of utter outrage towards the owner when a few tweaks would suffice ? Only at Newcastle

Not that I partake in any of that behaviour, but I think it's the only way people feel they can be heard is to portray him in a negative light. Being reasonable and going through the proper channels like the fans forum doesn't work. NUFC even suspended the fans forum a few years ago due to the tensions at the time. Despute it being a premier league prerequisite. This is a bloke who blanked parliamentary committees, was gonna be held in contempt of parliament. He won't listen to reasonable requests. Once the heat is turned up he seems to respond.

An absolutely pointless organisation. I've never seen anything of merit in the minutes that have been provided after these meetings.

'Can someone paint trap 2 in the first bogs on the left-hand side of the East Stand' - No bother, noted.
'Is there any scope to increase spending based on the revenue increased generated by promotion?' - The club has its targets and feels that our current transfer policy is at a level that ensures we are competitive.

Fuck off.

I want Newcastle to finish first. Where i think they should be is nowhere near that.
But it would be nice to try and improve year on year. Better to try and fail than not try.
Finished 10th last season, lost about a dozen games by 1 goal. Drew a few as well. Had the 8th best defence in the league though. So that to me would suggest maybe improving the side with a high quality striker, which is anything around £20m+ these days, and if we improved in front of goal then there's a chance we could have a go at trying to get into Europe, or at least try to be the best we can be.
Not strengthening at all and delaying moves in the market for the 3rd window in a row is restrictive and imo deliberately regressive.

Nothing to do with seeing Fulham spend £40m on a player or Everton spend £50m on one player? Need to be seen as a big club by spending a lot cos nobody else thinks you are

Remember when they were asked why we don't try in cup games, and the club responded with cups are not a priority, and having done our research teams than win cups get relegated.

Then they used the example of Birmingham in 2011, Wigan in 2013 and Portsmouth in 2008 despite not being relegated until 2010.

Nothing to do with that. That's just how the market is now, average strikers now go for £20m and upwards. The club is not accepting the reality.
Every top flight club has broken it's transfer record since 2016 apart from Newcastle. Newcastle's transfer record stands from 2005.
Only top flight clubs with a smaller transfer record than Newcastle are Brighton (who've probably never been in a position to beat it, until now) and Cardiff City who will probably beat it this summer or next.

But, but, but nothing affects him whatsoever. He doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks about him.

You only need to see his panic when he put his wallet down in the view of cameras to see how he doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks...

I know the family. I know they want the club to do well. The problem is MA is a smart business man football is difficult business. If you spend £100m nufc will still be in a gang of 14 clubs whose first priority is to avoid relegation. Talk of established top 10 is silly - there is no top 10, there is 6 and 14. Burnley finished 7th they are 3/1 to go down. Stoke finished 10th and two seasons later were relegated.

The two provincial clubs clubs who made a big push to get into the elite in the last 15 years were leeds and villa - they both ended up bust and have had change ownership multiple times. To make a real quantum difference at Nufc he would require £500m and MA just does not have that.

Arguably MA gets free advertising out of nufc but he charges no interest on the loans - these pretty much cancel each other out. He does not use it as a cash cow and the club has permission to invest all its cash flows. MA is a willing seller and the unpalatable facts are no one with deep pockets wanted it. Its a sound club - no external debt - but just not what the fans what it to be.

Widely reported by the journalists who seem to be well in with Benitez that one of the major sticking points is the reluctance to commit to investment in the training facilities and academy, which was apparently promised when he signed his contract. Still no work has commenced as Ashley sees it as a waste of money as there's no instant return.
Didn't your Academy release a boatload of players in the summer, mate? And the question is an honest one, not trying to be a smartarse or owt.

Including the wages paid out he has. You've been left with a squad of players Benitez doesn't want and can't shift because of the wages you were paying in the championship. Didn't you lose an extraordinary amount of money in your championship season?

Checked that

Tell me again how Benitez hasn't had money to spend over and above what came in

Look at those 2017 numbers....Loss 41m, Debt 144m.............Fookin tramps

Shouldn't have spent as much in 2005 then.

It would be karma if Ashley went and spent £100m and then you got relegated. Your wage bill would be huge and you would be in more debt, look at us and think yourselves lucky!
