If we win Tuesday

I know for a fact that is one of the considerations taken into account at the meeting. And the most valid one in my opinion.

I don't have an issue over people wanting to watch the game rather than play cricket, and understand games may fall victim to that, but I just don't think you can shoehorn a round of games into a Sunday where there are already games arranged.

Did anyone confirm if the date of the final is in fact a double header in the Durham League. If we get there when will those games be moved to? For the record I accept a final may be an extraordinary situation, but a Sunday they seemingly could use has now been burnt already.

Well that’s fair enough, but on their statement on their website ,that somebody put up on here they made no reference at all to disruption if changed dates, they just mentioned unable to change due to other issues like starting at 10 in the morning would be unacceptable.

I still struggle if other leagues can find a way round it, what makes the premier league soo different?

The Sunday is not really a issue for me can see your point, they is other ways round it as other leagues have done like starting earlier.

I take your point I really do. If things can be rescheduled great, I just dont think any thought has gone in to shoving games on a Sunday with no regard for anything else taking place that day. The early start thing is probably an option that could be explored, but even that would need full agreement of players and umpires. Mind I'm not sure I would be coherent enough to deal with a tall fast bowler kicking off the sight screen at 9am!!

Well yeah to be honest that would be the best option rather than rearranging to Sunday's, maybe because I am a early morning person and play golf a lot on Saturdays at 7 30 in the morning, see no issue starting at 9 at all, especially as a one off to watch England,

What are NEDL doing @robkitchuk ?
Still in T20 league on Saturday. Clubs have been offered to change start times. With most moving games forward. Timings aren't bad for T20 tbh.

I'm not sure if the Durham league have considered the knock on effect aswell of their decision. I am sure there will be an impact on Sunday cricket already scheduled that day in one of the 3rd team leagues, not to mention cup games already arranged for the new date. Ladies/kids games on those days could be affected, and I know there is a charity day had to be knocked on the head as a result of it. If anything aren't they being "up their own arses" by assuming they can just take a Sunday regardless of what else was planned that day.
Durham league don't give a sh*t about anyone but themselves. Why change The habit.

Theyve now announced the games will be replayed on a different date and not Sept 2nd as announced

The premier league are a disgrace who destroyed the best league the NE ever had through their own arrogance.

Oh here he is Durhams most grovelling fan

I’m really not. Majority on here will tell you that.

It’s embarassing how you have to shoehorn into any topic your distaste for the NEPL - the post you quoted wasn’t even talking about that, it was talking about the DCL.

Anyway, crack on enjoying your pint of bitter.

Double weekend this weekend in the DCL.

So.... lose againgst Croatia and we're in a 3rd place playoff at 3pm on Saturday. Win and we're obviously in the final at 4pm on the Sunday.

What are the DCL going to do this time?

Tbf I think it should be straightforward, I imagine no one would care about a 3rd and 4th place,it’s a pointless game really,so of course should play cricket on the Saturday.

Where on the other hand if we get to the final of course cricket should be cancelled or rearranged.

Its already been agreed If we get to the world cup final the Sunday games in DCL are cancelled that was agreed a few weeks ago. I don't think anyone cares about the 3rd place playoff and is probably the most pointless game out there.

You are right regarding my distaste for the NEPL. In my view they are pretentious organisation who has ruined local cricket on the altar of subservience to the County.
The Senior League had lasted for over 100 years and has a proud history and it was destroyed by ambitious administrators whose sole pre-occupation was with the county.
The Senior league were able to produce entertaining cricket without needing to have directors of coaching, warm ups and officials turning up hours before games

Or Electronic scoreboards and delegations turning up to grounds to inspect grounds pre-season like a Olympic committee to check whether clubs and grounds are good enough for them, don’t forget those:D:D
