What part is incorrect?
Poynter - who scored 100 in his previous appearance - replaced Davies who'd totalled 2 runs in his two innings in the win over Derbyshire.
How is that not being picked on merit? How is it being picked because he's pally with the coach?

I answered it by saying not to change a winning side. (As i posted on the durham Facebook page before the Sussex game)
Yeah and as I'm pointing out, that's an OPINION. Not the truth.
Astounded you'd keep a bloke who scored a century in his last game out of the team for someone who scored 2 in two innings....... Then claim that said centurion wasn't picked on merit but simply because he's pally with the coach.

You should've made that more clear then.
So why do you believe Davies should've stayed in the side ahead of Poynter?

I'm a believer in keeping a winning side and given Poynter was going to be missing this game I was in favour of some consistency and given Davies some first team game time.
You didn't know at the time that Poynter was due to miss this game though.

Well fair to say it was a very high probability he would be playing for Ireland and I'm sure the club would have expected him to be called up. (Squad was announced on day two vs Sussex).
