Look at the rankings. Neither make it into the top 5 in any format.

Kohli tops both test and ODI batting rankings for a starter. De Villiers has been imperious. Starc.

Let’s not forget that we have been crap in recent tests, and Buttler has played a couple of games only

Great form of course and very very good players. But not the best in the world
 
Buttler is a rare bred where the bigger the game the bigger occasion he raises his game!

We should just be happy we have a player who has the capability to play in all formats.

I have said time and time again on this board the sign of a good cricketer is to adapt their game to the situation and format and Buttler is simply man for that that!

Now of course the likes of Kohli are on a diffrent level, but let's just enjoy having a player of buttlers Standard

Buttler doesn't bat in top 5 kholi is better deal Villiers isn't he or has he retired

He just retired from tests last month

As others have said, they are both very very good players. But someone without a test ton and someone with a very very very poor conversion rate in tests can’t be the best in the world

Buttler is proving me wrong in terms of discipline etc

Its quite funny really. Hes just had one of the most phenomenal series by a ODI player in modern times and just about the only comment you have made about his performances have been that he irresponsibly threw his wicket away in the first game and he had poor game management. He is a phenomenal talent and has made you look a right plank :lol:
