Fair enough. Each to their own. I like the new wave of TMS, slowly replacing the stuffy with the engaging and innovative. Swann is the only lot of the new breed I'd get rid of

The charm of TMS was having likes of blowers, aggers, Johnson, trueman etc. Wonderful growing up listening to them.
It’s not just the birds who are ruining it either as that cockend Swann is unlistenable!

I’m not sure to be honest where does she commentate? I’ve heard a fair few on TMS and sky and they’ve been hopeless. Chances are she’ll have been one of them I’d imagine.
I’ve only heard her once, on the T20 thing the other night. And she was superb
Others have said she does the big bash.
Well I watched quite a bit of big bash and wasn’t overly impressed with commentary overall never mind some random bird threw in for good measure.

She's got quite a deep voice if that helps. Sounds a bit like Look North Yorkshire's Tanya Arnold but with an Aussie accent. Not that that will mean anything to most on here!

What has gender got to do with a persons ability to commentate or summarise? Women have played and watched cricket for years ?
Absolutely nothing
It generally has a lot to do with how whiney and annoying they get when something exciting happens. Like Johnathan Pearce on helium.
Other than that, all it seems to do is stick them undeservedly at the top of the list when hiring new blood comes around.
Now people have a pre-determined opinion of why I don't like women commentators, but ask yourself, genuinely, will the selection process for the likes of Mitchell, Guha, Rainford-C*nt, have been as rigorous as it was for Dan Norcross?
It seems like nowadays, if you got anywhere near the England women's team you get a free pass of a job with BBC, BT or Sky to give your view - yet how many retiring men's players have been afforded that opportunity in the last five years? Who was the last bloke that wrapped in and got a permanent position on Sky?
It's even worse on the County scene.
You may mock Mr Jardine and call his views pre-historic, but it's always funny how nobody actually wants to discuss the obvious elephant in the room.

Rob Key, Nick Knight, James Taylor, Ian Ward and loads of others, the vast majority of commentators and panelists are blokes. The attitudes towards women by some on here are just ridiculous and deserve to be mocked.

It's going to be more prevalent as time goes on.
I hear both sides of the argument and can agree with aspects of both.
The woman who commentated on the T20 windies v rest of the world, imo added a lot to that game and was excellent.
Isha seems to be the one leading the way, as she is on both sky and TMS, and I must admit I'm starting to enjoy her contribution, the more experienced she becomes.
She was interviewed on TMS the other day, where she is co host of a podcast, which is aimed at the British asian community to get more interest in participating in cricket and England in general.
I don't see a return of all male commentators from the days of the 70s onwards, sad for some obviously but imo that's progress.

Only James Taylor was in the last five years pal. In that time, how many women? Was it on the back of their talent and experience? Or to fill a quota?

A podcast which talks only about Asian cricket, on British radio. Getting the British Asian community into cricket is admirable, but what percentage of the population are British Asian?
At the same time, what are the BBC doing about White British participation?
Doesn't make sense to me like.

As a man of a certain age, and with the hearing loss that implies, I do find it hard to hear what women commentators say on the radio when a wicket falls as opposed to men commentators. An inconvenient truth maybe.
