You lot don't sell out derby's against us man ffs so your in no real position to comment. and before you pipe up I was at one of them and seen the hundred of empty seats myself

Bollocks. Which one? Every one I've seen has sold out weeks in advance and an hour after tickets go on sale.

Aside from not being true, and it being a derby what is your point?

It is true though. How many games have you sold out for in the last decade?

Crowds win you fuck all. You're basically bragging that you've got a hell of a lot more delusional fans than us.

I believe if they had experienced history the same way as us, their support would be similar.

For all but two seasons since 1993 they've competed at the top level. For several of those years, they competed at the very top and had the backing of national media which projected, shaped and consolidated their identity as a fanbase. This allowed them to draw in a wider regional and national catchment of support. When they got relegated, they came back up instantly on both occasions.

We have not had that luxury. In the same time span we've suffered a series of humiliating relegations and mismanagement at the top of the club. We competed in the top half of the Premier League for only three seasons in 20 years. Our support is largely local centric as a result, we have not attracted a wider audience or gained "glory supporters".

As a consequence, the collective psychology of both club's fanbases are very, very different. As one person once put it to me "Newcastle Fans are eternal optimists, Sunderland fans are eternal pessimists"

This thread isn't about you

Run along and bore some other club's fans.

Why do Newcastle fans have to try to make everything be about them?

Spot on that post. We will never know as we haven't had the mainly constant misery you lot have had to endure

We competed at the very top but we are delusional to want to be around 7th now though.

Great point about the collective psychology of both fan bases been totally different, that's why we never let ourselves accept such shite for years to get in a state like you are now. Always wanting to be better and not accepting mediocrity. Always gets called delusion on here though

And of course if we had never had keegan, the top 4 finishes, champions league and regular European campaigns through the 90s and 00s just as football was changing our gates would be no better than yours.

I am not 100% certain on which one, if my memory serves me right it was the one where Bentdner scored a pen for us, whichever one it was I was there and I seen the hundreds of empty seats with my own eyes.

Segregation. 1-1 draw in 2012 that I think last min equaliser

Spent his Friday night on here blabbering on trying to derail the thread, and now he is going to attempt the same again. I actually pitty the sack sack now

Trying to derail nothing. Mags and attendances are like moths to a flame

Is this when you get the bedsheets out?

What a load of absolute bollocks.

It was not segregation, they were in the top tier of the stand where the dugouts are, there were hundreds of empty seats. I seen them with my own eyes

We don't. Hence why our lowest position in the last 25 years is 1st in the championship whilst rubbing shoulders with Barcelona, juventus, PSV, inter milan, Benfica, Marseille etc etc on the way

I love this place like

A thread about our season ticket sales has spiralled into a deranged basket case insisting Pompey are a bigger club than Leeds, Villa & Sunderland

Seems like the type that writes messages on walls in shit
And licks his fingers when he's finished.

The thing is though, do you really have control over it in that regard? You might be saying you have higher expectations, but as fans there is little you can practically do to fulfill them, hence the frustration of your club for at least the last decade or so.

All the things which happened to SAFC didn't happen purely because we "allowed it to" as fans...
