I hope he has learned how to play the waft outside off stump more convincingly now
No they don'tGood. They need to stick with him
He's an intelligent lad so he'd be aware of the fault and worked on it. With the help of his father back home unlike the clowns we have as coaches for England. That's the issue. All the opposition had to do was bowl a tight fourth stump line and he was a walking wicket. He was dropped because of a clear and obvious technical flaw. I haven't seen much of him since but his ecord since was really poor until last month- if hes worked on his technique successfully in this area then all well and good.
Well let's hope so. And if he has learnt that the clowns don't get him back into bad habitsHe's an intelligent lad so he'd be aware of the fault and worked on it. With the help of his father back home unlike the clowns we have as coaches for England.[/WHITE]
Is this anything more than wishful thinking? He's an intelligent lad so he'd be aware of the fault and worked on it. With the help of his father back home unlike the clowns we have as coaches for England.
It's wishful thinking undoubtedly but equally He's undoubtedly recognised that weakness and adopted the Ottis mantra "Don't get bitter, get better".Is this anything more than wishful thinking?
Remember he didn't put his fantastic year down to anything more than a new mental outlook and being relaxed having settled down with his girlfriend.
I'f like to see him do well though as an ex-Durham.
gubbins looks good as well id bring Clarke in as well I don't rate malan as much as some.Einstein's Theory of Insanity coming to the fore again from England
Poor Burns.

in fairness when the only option is a bad option you are going to get a bad option.

Malans record is actually poor but he got a hundred in Australia so sky keep going on about himI don't think Burns is a bad option.
Good shout regarding Clarke, I like him too.

him and gubbins deserve a go before going back to jenningsHe is the option I would have chosen but in all honesty an opener who just about gets his 1000 runs in a season but no more on the best batting pitch in the country isn't someone who is smashing the door down to get in or give you a real belief that they can make the step up. Lyth had had a magic couple of years when he was picked as did Robson, Jennings and Hameed had massive years and Stoneman had collectively been the biggest scorer in county cricket over the previous 5 years. All of those came in, weren't good enough and in most cases went backwards since. I think the cupboard is dry but Burns out of the options available probably deserved the go.
