I believe one of the sticking points was compensation fee for no2 James Fowler. St Mirren now happy with six-figure sum they’re receiving for both him and Jack Ross. Would expect Sunderland announcement soon.

See my post on the previous page fella ;)

Any news on whether he's bringing more backroom staff? Or will he have to work with what we already have?
I would expect him to evaluate who he has to work with at SOL before making decisions, getting someone you trust beside you is the important one IMO, he'll be delighted Fowler's next to him.

Tbf, Coleman said that at the start, and ended up sticking with what we already had, now whether that because he had to or whether he wanted to, don't know. Never been a big fan of our medical team personally, we seem to have had a hell of a lot of injuries the last few seasons.

On the radio up here last night they were saying that it's all done and dusted between all parties, just waiting for JR to come back and sign on the dotted line, I hope they're right, I know some are underwhelmed about Ross but if you talked to anyone up here they'd all agree that SAFC needs to clear out the shite and start from scratch, that can't happen when you bring in one of the losers that are on the magic managerial merry go round that inspires nobody except those looking to trouser hefty wages, I'd expect it to take JR until this time next season to convince most that he's the real deal, he'll be salivating watching some of the kids in the highlights near the end of the season.

I'll be surprised if JR's opinion is overlooked, these guys are looking to work with a manager like Ross, I think they'll give him his head.

SKULDUGGERY! St Mirren chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick has confirmed that Jack Ross has left to become Sunderland’s new manager.

We may be waiting for the news that Sunderland have made the appointment of a new manager in Jack Ross official, but St Mirren’s chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick has confirmed his departure and has said that the 41-year-old leaving feels like a ‘death in the family’.

Speaking to the Paisley Daily Express ahead of the confirmation, Fitzpartick said:

"There is no other way to describe it, it really feels like there has been a loss in the family. That’s how deep it goes for everyone here at the club.

It can’t be understated just how big a job that Jack has done with St Mirren, he has pulled us all back together and it is for that reason that it is really devastating to see him leave the club.

But you have got to remember football moves on quickly, life moves on quickly and we have already got to look to the future. Although we are naturally disappointed that Jack has left, we always knew that one day this would come around.

Jack has ambition and this was obviously an opportunity that he felt couldn’t let pass him by. I’m sure that I speak for the vast majority, if not all, of the supporters in thanking Jack for his efforts and helping us create memories that will last a lifetime in the minds of the fans.

He said he wanted to take us back to the Premiership – and he did that and more. He made an unquestionable impact on St Mirren Football Club and for that reason I would never say a bad word about Jack Ross.

He has left a legacy and I think it is apt that he has received his reward for that."

I'm a St Mirren fan who lives in Cleadon and is married to a Mackem. I was going to post a couple of days ago when this all blew up, but your board wouldn't let me.

Anyway, if there's anything that's not been covered already (in relation to Jack Ross) that you'd like to ask, feel free to fire away.

I sent a text to a mate in Edinburgh who’s a big Hearts fan and was part of the “Foundation of Hearts” what he knew of Jack Ross. This was his reply:

Hi pal, Garry here hope you are having a great holiday, Jack Ross was the youth coach at Hearts and he was earmarked to take over from Robbie Nielson, however there was a disagreement with him and the director of football, he's now went on to do the impossible!!! He took St Mirren from the bottom of the championship to the league title in a season. Very passionate!!! in the early days at St Mirren he was known to argue with fans behind the dugout, we missed out on him and if you give him time he will be great for Sunderland. He will need time though as I think it's a big step up, Sunderland are a premier team playing in the first and fans expectations may not give him the time to settle in . Enjoy pal. Love to all

they'll be windmilling around the technical areas knowing some of the dicks at the SoL in that case
