Travellers site plans dropped by the council

the op has had a weekend in Whitby in a caravan and now thinks he's Bartley Gorman
The op is from a travelling family.

I always thought it would make a great spec savers advert. A couple of old biddies trying to pitch up their caravan at a pikey site  “Should have gone to spec savers” as the wheels disappear off their car etc
And there it is ‘pikey’? What a helmet I hope mods see this. I wouldn’t report it but I hope they see it and act to board rules.

Why. You don’t don’t seem the shy and retiring type. Don’t let it bother you I have thick skin. Bigots don’t get to me.
Ok. Well I was going to ask what you preferred to be referred to then? How can you identify as a traveller when you live on a site? You are on a site. You don’t travel. Therefore calling yourself a traveller is ridiculous.

Well my friend now that you have asked. To get traveller status you don’t need to travel all year, there is a amount of time you need to travel per year. That’s why travellers travel to and work on fairs and shows during the summer. I live in a house and have not travelled since I was a boy (profile pic was last). But my mother lives on a site in a static van my sister lives on a farm with her horses and doesn’t travel but cousins travel and have traveller status.
If your interested you need to contact the council they will send a liaison officer and help you with the process.
You will receive a council tax discount iirc. It’s grest fun but I like bricks and mortar. Oh and I’m not owa keen on horses.

Hope this helps.

Helpful. So what do you call non travelling travellers then? Remainers?

You mean a traveller who is not travelling? They are a traveller if they have travelled there allotted time the previous year. If they are on a permitted travellers site in a non permanent dwelling they can still qualify for part travelling status. A bit like people who live outside the uk for tax purposes there is a certain criteria to meet.

Yes. A traveller who doesn’t travel enough.
