Nope, SBC have first call on them.
What I’m saying is the payments would have to go to the football club. They wouldn’t go to a third party. But if SBC have got first charge through a legal document then that is another matter. But we don’t know for sure if SBC have.

There was documentation showing that TV payments from the PL had been signed over to SBC to cover the debt. It's irrelevant if they've been paid off though.

Has anyone on here ever followed this process at another club? Are meetings with the EFL par for the course? I'm sure there's probably a similarly hysterical thread on the fan sites of Forest, Fulham, Brum etc...just wondering if we are getting ourselves worked up over a boring, drama-free, bureaucratic process.

Getting yourself worked up about a process you know nothing about is complete madness. That much should be obvious.

I don't mean you personally, obviously.

There is a deed of assignment as part of the loan security. However, they can't take the payments before they fall due. If Short has cleared all the debt, then the deed of assignment will disappear with it. It could only be applied if the SBC loan is still in place after completion, and Short has only written off the intra-group loans. Even then, it would be very much a last resort measure by SBC if they felt the loan was irrecoverable by any other means. It's inconceivable, given the materiality of this loan, that it won't be dealt with fully in the purchase agreement.

Trouble is we aren’t privy to what’s definitely happened with the SBC debt. Did Short pay it off when the media said he’d cleared all the debt. If he did the parachute payments would have to go to SAFC. Surely the consortium would have agreed all this when a deal was struck. The mind boggles.
