Could there be a tax benefit to it?

No, there's no group structure that allows offsets, and it's not clear exactly where Short is tax-resident. I'll admit I'm not clued up on US personal taxation, but it's very unusual that a capital loss (ie a loss on the sale of an investment) can be offset against income. It's certainly not possible in UK or Irish tax law (which are the other two jurisdictions which could apply to Short). Unless, of course, he's made a massive capital gain somewhere else.

@Grumpy Old Man "And finally, as sources have told me, is he planning to take SAFC’s next two PL parachute payments as part of the deal?" Is this even possible?

As I said on the other thread, only if Donald agrees to a deed of assignment in the purchase deal. That's the only way, legally, it could really be done. As this would then leave the consortium having to replace those payments with either loans or an immediate capital input equating to the parachute payment, it's hard to see why they would agree to that, rather than just paying Short directly.

Says he's an ex Sunderland player on his twitteT home page. When did he play for us?? Suggests he's another one of Mick Gray's arse lick brigade.

Think his family homed the yts players as well. Knows a lot of the players probablys good mates with Gray and Howey
