I can’t imagine Ashley being happy with this type of talk, whether he goes to West Ham or not, to me it looks like Benitez is trying to dig his escape tunnel, while preparing the Ashley blame game.

Hate to dissapoint you but Rafa was never going to go to West Ham man and he will be at Newcastle in August still and have us mid table at least

Im afraid with Cardiff and either Villa or Fulham getting promoted you will be 14th in the table at the start of August. Rafa Oot!

Hope he gets it he'll be a disaster
why think that got a great track record at smaller clubs

Broke up Barca and Madrid at Valencia, took Malaga to top 4 and Champs League 1/4 finals

broke real madrids all time points record when he was there, obviously won Premier league at City

he's shown can do it both at small and big clubs with and without money

He has a good record yeah. Just West Ham seems a very toxic place and I just think it won't go well but we will see

Ideally this game between Ashley and Benitez runs right through the summer, with the tabloids keeping on sticking the boot into Ashley. It will only end one way. In the meantime it is making it an almost impossible task for the next manager. Although the mags won't be able to see it, Benitez stubbornness is causing them just as many problems as Ashley.

Absolutely spot on

I would not be surprised what so ever if Rafa ends up moving on this summer but what stubbornness are you speaking of. He has 1yr left on his contract, the club have said they want him to extend that and are keen for him to stay on. He has said he would like to stay and extend his contract and that he will do so if he thinks the conditions are right, and that he is keen for contract talks to start ASAP.

What is he being stubborn over?

I forgot to add it will also give us a few chuckles along the way. ;)

His agenda is clearly to convince the fans that the owner will not part with any transfer funds. That has been an under current to their relationship since he arrived. Ashley, quite rightly, is running the club within it's means and wants it to be self sufficient. Benitez is either using the supposed lack of funds as his get out of jail free card, or isn't intelligent enough to realise that if you look 16 miles down the road, there is a perfect example of what happens when a club is badly managed from the top. Now imo, Rafa is a pretty intelligent bloke.....

“This is an exciting time for our football club. We are preparing to appoint a manager who has a proven record of success at the highest level of the game.”

It's him

Good ambitious appointment imo. Villareal though not Valencia.

Course you do, you massive knacker.

When I start to insult you, feel free to respond in a similar manner, until then fight your natural urges and try to act like a civilised human being. When I’m just making observations, try to add constructive comments, after all, that’s what a forum is for.

Next time you feel the need to be abusive, just step away from the keyboard, put the kettle on, have a nice cuppa and relax.

I know they’re not very good, but if you only want to read comments where fans just blow smoke up each other’s backsides, then they are several mag forums around which may interest you.
