Save Seaburn

Well apparantly am someone else who I've never heard of. One notable poster on this thread has probably had a stroke given the way he went on on twitter this morning about it.

He went berserk.

Not sure what’s that’s about without context - link?

Asking a 6 year old to walk 0.7 mile? Doesn't sound too arduous to me.
It's not, it's just a little slower.

There is no doubting Roker and Seaburn has a natural beauty and has a lot already going for it. The argument about paying for parking is ridiculous as there is a large free car park in Seaburn already. I am though not against more parking, preferably free.

There is certainly room for improvement though and there needs to be done sort of quality leisure facility or attraction. What this may be I don't know. A leisure pool would be great.

There really isn't a great deal for 10 - 17 year olds to do and that's a shame. It would be great to cater for that age range.

I understand why there is a proposal for housing and new housing would help but certainly not essential. Remember the seafront is already surrounded by housing from Roker, Seaburn, South Bents and Whitburn
what is there to do for 0-10 year olds?

Metro or walk. Good for your health. Are you seriously saying that a 6 year old can't walk for 15 minutes?
No one has said he can't or won't, it's just a little slower. Hence the point, that it takes 20 minutes to walk from my house to the bus stop for seaburn.

Kids that age are happy messing about on the beach. There is also the play parks at Roker beach and Roker park (Seaburn is poor mind). There's a soft play at go bananas and the amusements.

As an alternative view to 'things to do for kids' there are probably quite a few of us who aren't actually looking to fill the seafront up with attractions for kids. I'm happy with what's already there for them but personally, as an adult, I woulkd be put off slightly if it became too much of a playpark-type area.

The loons on save Seaburn were saying that Seaham had been transformed with out building any new housing. Totally ignoring the fact that Easy Shore Village was new housing. Mentalists, I’m glad I’m banned.

Bollocks. Even if you live in the far reaches of SR6 in celadon or Whitburn you don’t walk 20 minutes to a bus stop.
The village is by far the main reason for its transformation

I think it's doing well as a laidback area suiting older people
Coffee shops .Cycling .walking .dogs etc
I hear a lot of adults suggesting stuff they did 40 years ago which isn't necessarily what kids do today
Swimming pools for example

Never had issue getting parked next to Tommy statue on the main stretch tbh, which is free parking.
Managed once in 6 years .I don't go down to walk around Im more a pop to the chippy type but gave up trying

the police station being turned into flats helped anarl
How long ago ws that ?

at a guess over 10 years ago , nice they are

Check out this property for sale on Rightmove!

Google maps puts it at 15 mins, 0.7miles to the bus stop. Add it a few mins to be early in case the bus is and a 6 year old in tow makes a 20 min walk. If you can't figure that out, I don't care. I walk that route most days and know how long it takes.

Secondly, I'm not going to one of your consultations. You said "You can’t be that interested if you only bother to turn up once every 14 years." - listen to what you have said, it's scandalous that any development should take 14 years before a single brick has been laid.

I went to the one in 2004 - nothing happened.

There was another in 2011 - nothing happened.

Siglion are 'consulting' again, but there are no dates, tenants or detailed plans. I'm starting to think this whole consultation thing is just an excuse to arrange some company to be paid over the odds to organise, time after time. Might we worth an FOI to the council to see how much has been wasted on these 'consultations'.

Have some self respect, put your hand in the air and say the council and siglion have let everyone down. It's taken far too long with no demonstrable progress.

Why should it matter who you pay council tax to? Surely you want to attract people from outside the council boundaries.

We should have a poll for a tag line for Siglion...

A. "Never without an excuse"
B. "What do you mean what comes after outline plans?"
C. "You're not from Sunderland - Fuck you"
D. "Speed, Price and Quality - we have none"
E. "We really think we're competing"
F. "How about another consultation?"

I don’t have consultations sweetheart

Just come in from being along at seaburn and roker today
No traffic jam and just enough local people around
Weather lovely
Sun nice and warm but a cooling breeze and the Car parks are full
It’s like paradise isn’t it?

Only 40 minutes from South Tyneside and an hour from Houghton as well
